Socket Retention for socket 754

My heatsink/fan broke my socket retention for my motherboard. Whats the luck, same thing happend a couple of months ago with my AM2 board. Ah well guess these components are not built for transport!

urrm, any ideas where to purchase it? quietpc.com only has AM2 ones!

that a custom retention...looks like its for ppl who need a skt478 fan for a k8 socket.

Just by a zalman heat sink (7000 or 7700)...those dont use the retention plate.

the 7700 is very big...make sure you have the space...also go for alcu...cu is extremly heavy (has the potential to rip you mobo in half

)

dont get the 8000, it has horrible reviews...POS.

That would work, but the cost is not justified. I recently bought a new heatsink/fan for my socket 754 so I really cant shell out again for the same type of component!. Thanks though

the problem is that aftermarket HS/F puts way to much stress on the retention plate...so much compression it require (does it need that much?). And on top of that a heavier heat sink to rip it right off.

to be more accuret the bracket is what breaks not the backplate, and most makers use cheap brittle plastic, i did find a place that was using some stuff they gurnteed cold take 170lb on the retention clip numbs, wish i had gotten one for am2, would have been handy.

btw i also have an extra 745 one, came with a cooler i got that didnt need it

no, you need a 939 or 754 one or a cooler like listed above that dosnt need a bracket
