$200 dollars over retail?! Ridiculous. Newegg's prices on more popular products are getting worse and worse.

limited supply and no competition = ouch to the wallet. even if the 7990 doesn't hit the 690's performance level, it'll at least give a price/performance competition (as long as amd is paying attention when they price it)

still though, even if amd doesn't do anything more supply will help the price at etailers get closer to the 1000$ mark.

Seriously these things are impossible to find right now almost.. I checked all sites. You name it. EVGA ,PNY, etc etc etc etc.. No luck.. Only ebay had any left in a reasonable range. Any sellers that say they have them, are lieing. If you order them, they will drop u into back order, without even telling you. They'll let you buy it then be like, "oh sorry, we don't have it but we'll ship it to you by the end of May".. Not kidding..lol..

Who already has 1000 and wants it bad will give another hundred. It's how things work, I don't think that somebody who makes one thousand a month (whatever currency and country) will buy such a card.

I'm exaggerating.. I'm just urked that the guy who sold me one last night for 560, decided to refund my money while I slept.. so I ended up paying more..
Woke up to an email about "Oh sorry, I'm an idiot and I don't know how to use ebay" So by the time I found any left, they were more expensive. I had to buy it, because my gpu died last night..
So It's not really the price that urked me. It was the lack of professionalism, with the person I delt with.

Err. That's too much. One pops up on newegg, amazon, evga, ebay, and a forum once or twice a day at retail. Hell there's one on overclock.net for $510 shipped right now.

I've got my own cunning plan!
I buy a pair of the previous generation cards and I'm thrilled at how well they run the crappy console ports. :D

Seriously, I'm quite happy with my cards, and even as an AMD fanboi I will admit Nvidia's latest offerings kick some serious ass.

Yea I was using a 5850 reference model before this card. It was a beast. I didn't want to tell my GF, that it pretty much matched her 6850, once I overvolted and overclocked it, on aftermarket cooling..lol..
I had no intention of upgrading, until like the next line came out.. I was totally happy with my 5850 even on Batman Archam city, almost maxed out..
I had even said to my gf, like 3 days ago. "I am not upgrading my gpu, it still kicks ass" But then poof, dedski gpu..

I go with the performance is all and I think Nvidia won this round.

You're lucky! I will pay 733$=560euros (thank God shipping free) on Wednesday for a Gainward GTX 680 Phantom (2 Gb) http://www.skroutz.gr/c/55/kartes-grafikwn-vga.html?keyphrase=GTX+680and it's the best choice i have right now. And that's why http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-154-GW&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=2255. In the UK same model 530ÂŁ=654euros. US boys soooooo lucky! Just watch prices here in Greece through the first guide i posted. VAT here is 23% added to the price of the product (price of product here=price+shipping expenses). MADNESS!!!!!!
I will make you cry with this but here's what i missed on ebay because i had no money in my prepaid card and seller demanded immediate payment:. http://www.ebay.com/itm/320897632779?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1323wt_1165. 2 of them dissapeared in 1+1/2 hours from time of listing.

exactly and for other benefits like only taking up one pci-e slot is a bonus too, especially in SFF systems. I can imagine one of these bad-boys in a SG-08 for the most ultimate lan-rig.

If you were willing to spend $600 for a GTX 680, you should have PMSGed me. I'd happily sell anyone my EVGA GTX 680 for $600+ shipping. (I'm not kidding) :rockout:
