She's insisting that I don't give her anything, so I'm helping her find some parts with her budget.

Don't be a fiend.. Save your money..lol.. Get another hundred and step up, to the next line. heh..
Then once you save up that hundred, realize you almost have enough, for a top end, ati card... :x

not everyone needs the best in their machines

OP: if u can get the price lowered a lil more (if second hand) then i think its a good deal still. A GTX295 can hang with a GTX470. but there are still lots of DX 11 cards in the $175-200 range.

I see why she says that, 1. You buy your self all the kick ass hardware. 2. When you decide to get her something you get her a used card!!

At list get her something new she'll appreciate you more even if it's not that powerful at list it will be new.

No the price is no good and no dx11 there are lots (and i mean lots of them) of 40nm x11 cards similarly priced and brand new wich can offer that kind of performance.
