GeForce GTX 685 (GK110) Features 4GB 512-bit Memory, 25% Faster than GTX 680

It's not much of a crush, because most of the revenue comes from under 300$, heck, under 250$ cards. And AMD has that covered since a loong time really. So it's more like the fastest card tag being a matter of prestige in us geek's eyes

Also, according to me, the HD7800 series DIE is the actual winner in this entire series. It's amazing, perfect, I believe if AMD had worked a month or two more on fine tuning it further, heck if they released the HD7870 as this:

- 1200MHz Core
- 1700MHz Memory (use 7GT/s chips already!)

The card would actually have left HD7970 in the dust, while being a HELL lot cheaper, to consumers and AMD as well.

that is very true, the 7970 is the least efficient in the family, 7800 series makes the best use of the GCN cores, if amd fine tuned the 7970 better they wouldve had 20% better performance(as much as people say kepler is the most effiecient i think GCN is even more efficient, they just happen to look at tahiti and not GCN as a whole)
however september october that is 2month before amd releases the 8000 series, if an 8970 makes good use of gcn(not to mention tweaks to the architecture) and gets that 20% performance its supposed to have, and equip it with more cores (2304) then there you have something like 30% faster than tahiti xt.

25% better in gaming is pretty good. I have a feeling since this is the GK110 that itll be about 40% better in Direct Compute

I highly doubt the 8000 series will be out this Fall.

oh amds graphics division has been perfect with release dates/execution, their whole methodology works around that rather than just completion of intended project(like nvidia)
amd is adapting that methodology in cpus as well now and they have been doing pretty well in terms of meeting deadlines

So I can reasonably pay $250-325 for a midrange 670 base/Ti in Q3 of 2012. Until then I can pay at least a hundred dollars when its released next week. Wonderful.

the gtx680 is already $500, is this going to be over $600 or something?

Like I said, it's more than likely that if Nvidia were going to launch GK110, they would do it as the 7xx series, and rebadge GK104 chips to make up the lower segment GPU's (750, 760, etc.) So more than likely if when Nvidia does get around to launching a 685 or 780, it will be at $500-600, and current high-end GPU's will be lower cost by then.

Well seeing how the GK110 is the GTX690 I'm wondering what the GK112 is?
I was thinking about picking up a GTX690 but I'm really curious what the GK112 is going to be.
I'm sure the GTX690 will be more powerful but the GK112 could be a good middle ground between the GTX680 and GTX690

No, the GK110 is NOT the GTX 690. That's 2xGK104 GPUs.

Currently, the only card planned with a GK110 is a Tesla GPGPU.

Help me to understand this statement.

What I see is:
1) Yields from the manufacturer are miserable, so few cards are leaving AMD and Nvidea both.
2) AMD has yet to release the 7990.
3) Kepler has yet to make a dent in the market, because of extremely limited availability.
4) AMD is now working on performance enhancements of the 7xxx series, to more accurately compete with Kepler.
5) There were recently price drops from AMD, but not enough to cover every market segment.

All five of these things suggest that the 7xxx series still has a lot of life left in it. Why, other than holiday buying, would AMD release a new line? They shoot down the possibility of buyers going for the current cards, and with current yields couldn't produce enough cards for a proper launch if they started in the next month.

I'd prefer to see AMD go balls-to-the-wall, and get a variant of the 7xxx series to compete with Kepler (680, as GK110 is likely to be nearly untouchable performance high). Nvidea keeps releasing news of continuously improving cards (without actual market availability). It would be nice to have an AMD product that competes with Kepler, and is actually available to purchase.

Barring this, Nvidea is winning the PR war. Better benches, more products being released, and a substantial enough shortage to drive consumers to pay way too much for a GPU. AMD may win the race though, as it's impossible to buy a card that isn't on store shelves. Here's to 2013; the next generation is likely to be released, and with the yields higher they might actually be available from both companies.

Dude have you been Sleeping under a Rock? Most Games tested here 7970 takes lead by 5-10% In multiple Resolutions, Only things faster are the 6990, 590, 690.

If Im not mistaken the 680 is clocked higher from factory over the 7970.

Well im looking forward to Gefroce variant, hopefully Q1-Q3 2013

Im mostly or only interested in these 2 features that are missing in GK104.

my quote form nvidia.forums lol
hehe nvidia please give us GK110 in geforce and dont skip HyperQ, dynamic parallelism..

Both options are very welcome, especially HyperQ. Dynamic parallelism is very cool too, no need for uber fast cpu. I could still use my OC'ed Q9450 with it :D

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia-kepler.html

And someone made a make believe benchmark, here
http://www.ocaholic.ch/xoops/html/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=747

And to tell the truth i had a feeling its gonna be something like that, but still
We remind you that those aren't the real results of the GK110 performance nor random numbers, it is a prediction based on a valable hypothesis!

no sheit?! :D

whats amazing is most are keeping 4870s, 5870s, etc now adays

well my 5870's in crossfire are about the same as a GTX680/6990/7970. One 5870 give like 98% of the performance a 6950 gives, so really the only advantage a 6950 crossfire or 6990 card has over my setup is better scaling.

I dont see anyone asking one of the obvious questions. Well to me atleast.

When was the last time Nvidia up-scaled a die size after releasing a flagship card ? I'll give you a cookie if you can get it right ;)
^for all you cynical people single board dual GPUs dont count :p

Thats what it would have to do to keep GK110 as is or as its predicted by the original poster. He mentions 28nm variant but is using GK110 scalability performance to match that of GK104 in his graphs.

if this does indeed come out... does that finally prove the 680 was/is a mid range card with a high price tag?

only time will tell if this is in fact true.... and not something made up.

:wtf:you need further proof,,

whats amazing is most are keeping 4870s, 5870s, etc now adays

at 1000 core a 5870xfire setups still very good 1080p style,:)

come on Big Kep ya bastid releaseth thyself, im starting to think nvidia are deffinately bringing this (gK110)out ,pre christmass too ,as it seems to me they are trying to fully outshine the competition by as big a margin as possible , id prefer they actually made a few to sell though too:p

imho this would be great as it gives AMD a higher cliff face to climb for the 8xxx's
