Hmm, looks like 95w IVB exists after all. I always thought that SB has the 95w parts, while its corresponding ones is in 77w.

I'm still wondering why this is relevant? They sell these at Newegg afterall. Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turb...

Some people are looking for an answer as to why many CPUs are labelled as 95 W, while others are 77 W. The CPU I bought last weekend says 95 W.

Personally, i think it's just a typo, but with the "TIM" issues, I think people are over analyzing things looking for reasoning as to why Intel did this, that or the other thing.

I just wanted input on what I thought.. Because I was confused with the printed numbers, I heard it was originally95 w because of some oem regulations..or was it just a misprint on intel side or is it a later batch using a different thermal under the ihs at this point I guess it's irrelevant as I'll pass on ib and wait for haswell instead

Maybe the 95w ones are leakier chips. I know when I bought my Phenom 9750 years ago, I ended up getting a 125w (1.3v) version when I thought they were all 95w.

Well, my 95 W chip, at sock, pulls about 45 W. @ 4.4 GHz, it pulls 77 W. At 4.6 GHz, it pulls 102 W.

Really? My 2600K pulls 135w in IBT @ 4.5GHz/1.28v (using HWMonitor). I'll have to play with some lower frequencies and see if I can strike a balance between performance/power consumption. :)

2600K is not 3770K, and that's all I can say. Many are complaining about temps, and given those power consumption numbers, there is something to be said about that, but it's not an issue I care about.
