Here are the first pictures of the X11 from GIGABYTE, an Ultrabook touted by GIGABYTE to be the "world's lightest". The 11.6-incher, in pictures leaked to the web ahead of its May 31 launch, appears to make use of advanced materials such as carbon fiber, to achieve low weight, apart from structural rigidity, which is key for the form-factor. It retains the "wedge-shape" of several other lightweights, including Apple MacBook Air. Its system specifications are still under the wraps, although we're pretty sure we're looking at a new-generation Intel Core "Ivy Bridge" powered Ultrabook here. Find more pictures at the source.

Looks like the first actual competitor to the MBA(despite its an almost completely color inverted macbook air :/... one hell of a solid design from Apple.), unless they can't provide specs to back it up.

Especially since the air is due for upgrades in June.

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
pricing will be key, which is usually where apple falls flat on its face. pricing and ram upgradeability (min 8GB), and this will be a success.

Ram cannot be upgradable in this form factor. Sodimms are too thick for the thickest area of the laptop.

And the Macbook Air pricing certainly does not fall flat on its face. It's still stomping every offering from any other manufacturer.

Pretty sure thats how you define "success"

Don't see any reason for supporting that outdated notebook form factor. Please, get in 21st century already and stop using abacus, typewriters and other ancient stuff. That is ULTRA outdated, nothing more. :nutkick:

I .. what?

Anyway this is sexy (not the arrow keys though :p) I've never really liked when notebooks gets thinner and thinner, it feels like it has to stop somewhere and I don't mind bulky machines if it's done properly.

But yeah it does look nice.

I think hes referring to sodimm support. Upgradability is nice, but the form factors are much too crippling.
