A little earlier, Samsung refreshed its Series 5 line of performance notebooks with Intel Core "Ivy Bridge" processors. It created a new branch, powered by AMD "Trinity" accelerated processing units (APUs), which pack up to four x86-64 cores, Radeon HD 7600M series graphics, and dual-channel DDR3 IMCs. Samsung currently has two models that are Trinity-powered, the Series 5 13.3-inch (NP535U3C-A01US), which is driven by AMD A6-4455M quad-core APU (2.10 GHz); and the Series 5 14-inch (NP535U4C-A01US), driven by AMD A10-4655M quad-core APU (2.80 GHz). Both models come with 4 or 8 GB dual-channel DDR3 memory and 500 or 750 GB HDD standard, with other features being identical to those of its Ivy Bridge cousins. The 13.3-inch A6 model starts at $699, while the 14-inch A10 model starts at $849.

Hmmm A10 for $849...$300 more and I could get a Qosmio. But...the battery life and size might interest me. I'll have to think about that. Hoping Asus or one of the others does a nice deal with a dual GPU setup. A10 + discrete added on for an attractive price...tempt me please tempt me!!

Or you can save $150 and get a better specced laptop like Gigabyte U2440 http://www.notebookcheck.net/Gigaby...trabooks-and-Carbon-X11-notebook.76029.0.html

$700 for an Intel Integrated CraPU...pass. The rest of the line...for that price, can go much better elsewhere. GT640 for that cost is poor.

Samsung seems to be pulling a bit of an Apple as their name has gotten better. But, I guess I would pay that much if Apple had introed a Trinity Book at that price. Not for the name but for my old Apple apps that will likely have to die anyways.

Yeah? I'd wager you'd need to shell less than $100 to get the optional GT630M configuration. Still less than this overpriced Samsung, you'd get a much more powerful CPU and moderately more powerful GPU as a bonus. Still saving $50 for some beers.

Still a bit too much I agree (I initially thought you got 630M for $700), have to pay for the form factor I guess.

Ugh, I want companies to start limiting 1366x768 to 11.6" and smaller laptops. These 13.3/14" laptops at that resolution are pushing the usefulness of that resolution, but don't even get me started with the common 15.6" screen at that resolution. 1600x900 (or better) or GTFO!

Any reviews how that a6 performs? I rather have the a10 in the 13" form factor.
