The new 12.6 beta's and the 12.7 betas are a big step-up compared to the 12.4s apparently.

Depending on whic hcard you have...with 3x HD6950 2GB cards, anything since 12.4 is broken for me, unfortunately. In fact, i find the best driver for my cards is the 11.11c driver, along with the latest APP.

12.4 and up are far from stable for me, if they work at all. Single GPU, no issues, but multicard took a bit hit for me, which is unfortunate.

SO great, we got some new driver-level BOost, but old stuff is still broken.

THAT alone makes me unhappy with this GHz Edition card.

Dear Nvidia,

You just got poked in the eye by AMD. What to do? What to do? I have an idea. Paper Launch the GK110...yes, I know it's lame but the launch of GK104 was hardly better than a paper launch because they were rarer than a sober thought in Linsay Lohan's brains.

If you make that happen then all will be well.

Am I aware!?! Is a bear aware that the Pope shits in a silver pan?
I know that one makes zero sense. Just wiggle room for my diatribe.

I guess thats why Nvidia hasnt release the 650s & 660s yet. There still testing drivers for that infamous stuttering issue they cant seam to fix.

We might yet see a GTX685. Certainly there's plenty of headroom on the stock cooler. Then again, Nvidia still hold the single board crown (for now) with the 690.

Allow me to go against the grain here and say fuck you, AMD.

Why the low ASIC quality? Are these Tahiti cores that didn't make the grade to be 7970s are were meant to be sold as 7950s due to TDP constraints not being met? The higher voltages tell me that these didn't qualify as 7970s. Even the idle voltage us up by 100mv.

Show me a 7970 that can't do "GHz Edition" speeds at STOCK voltage? And that will be $50 less, thank you very much. AMD is taking their shitty cores and, instead of selling at a lower price, selling at a premium.

Fuck you AMD, fuck you very much:slap:

Meh ... there will always be issues with drivers and GC harware. Things will get ironed out and then everyone will move to bitching about the next thing that pops up. It's the way of the interwebz.

@Desert Eagle : Few things ...
1) Learn to use the mutli-quote and edit features so you don't double/triple post. If in the heat of discussion you do it accidentally, ask a section mod to merge them. Then we will know it was just a mistake.
2) You being the crud of the universe has not been verified. :D
You are, however, welcome to post your opinions here on TPU as long as they are on-topic. You may get trashed for them, but we all do sometimes. Don't let it get under your skin.
3) If you need anything or have questions, feel free to PM me or any other moderator. We're here to help. :toast:

Carry on ........

I think that AMD would move far more units if they had just called this 7970 GHz Edition the 7990. The preformance between this GHz Edition and the 7990 better be something you could hang a hat on.

I think that the GHz Editions are getting lost in the crowd.

And you quoted me to say that because...? I'm not talking about NVIDIA, I'm talking about AMD. This is an AMD thread.
