This made me lol.
Employee loyalty to a company went down the crapper years ago when companies stopped being loyal to their employees.

Google Nexus 7 and Microsoft Surface use Tegra 3. Countless Chinese OEMs use Tegra in cheaper phones. I think NV put its foot clearly in this market in a short time.

In the meantime last week:

When AMD VP Rory Read spoke during conference call he pointed out that AMD for the first time since 2001 has seen a dropping interest three quarters in a row for PCs. The actual report revealed a revenue that was down 10 percent year-to-year and landed at 1.41 billion dollar. AMD made a profit of 77 million dollar, up from a loss of 580 million dollar last quarter, but it is the future for the company and PCs overall that worries the most.

"For the first time since 2001, client PC shipments have declined sequentially for three consecutive quarters-and have been below historical averages for the last seven quarters.[...]We also believe the PC industry may be resetting to a new [lower] baseline," - Rory Read

Also:

Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s shares plunged Friday to their lowest level in more than three years after the chipmaker reported that economic weakness dragged down its second-quarter results and would hurt its performance through the summer.

THE SPARK: AMD announced Thursday that its second-quarter net income fell 40 percent on overall weakness in the global economy, softer consumer spending and lower demand for its processors overseas. While the company said it is taking steps to improve its performance, it expects "headwinds" to continue to challenge the company into the third quarter.

So, tough times ahead and as much as I hate tablets and everything mobile this is where we are heading.

Nvidia has spent 1/4th of its net worth on mobile investment this year alone. After spending that much you'd hope you get a foot or a toe in the door. The question is the door gonna close on you if you dont keep pace with Samsung, Qualcomm and your other competitors. If it doesnt work out for them they will drop just as fast as AMD or faster. Both have been in a downward spiral since late 200?s.

AMD is more than likely to stick it out with the APU until its dead and Nvidia is more then likely to be gobbled up by a Microsoft or Google in a buyout if there debt catches up to them.

Mid August we will know if the AMD slow down also effected Nvidia or not since they are do with there report.

link, or is this another product of your imagination like the " MS didn't buy Nvidia for $3bn" thoughts? Considering Nvidia has in excess of $3bn in cash reserves, seems a little weird. :rolleyes:

Nice one. Xzibit's joke observation of the week. What debt? You seem to be confusing Nvidia's balance sheet with AMD's.

A simple Google would do you wonders.

Microsoft did have the right to buy Nvidia first with the SEC.

I found for being on an enthusiast forum some of you are really lazy to do research. Do you just like being spoon feed your information.

Another small differance is % of the company in stock
AMD = 60
Nvidia = 70

Well fuck me, the rats are jumping ship. Sad to see a once valiant competitor going downhill so fast. I can't say that they aren't bringing this on themselves, but this is in no way good for the consumer.

Old news that doesn't mean what you think it means.
How does:
"The deal gives Microsoft the exclusive right to match any offer for 30% or more of Nvidia's outstanding shares by a third-party" equal
Although last year Nvidia could have died if Microsoft pick up its option to purchase it for 3.4. Nvidia wanted more and Microsoft didnt think it was worth it after 3 rounds of talks.
Thats $US3.4bn for a baseline of 30% of the shares IF another party attempted to acquire those shares and likely trigger a takeover bid

As for the rest of your posting...you're right - some of you are really lazy...or just trolling. Too close to call.

Maybe you'd be better served putting your over active imagination to work on the topic at hand...namely AMD's brain drain.

AMD doesn't simply die it's a cockroach that keeps coming back stronger than ever.
Not a nice analogy. Cockroaches eat each other and survive on garbage.

The reason it was included in the report is to advise investors and shareholders. Kind of required by law to give a heads up if they are shopping for a buyer at which time it felt important enough to include in the report. A K.Y.A.
