Why do I have to vote on the front page?

I've been here for a few years now and I've always found it annoying how I click on a news thread with a poll and vote only to be asked to vote again on the front page. Why can't the votes be ported over? I think I've only ever actually bothered going to the front page and voting (despite there being a link for it, albeit AFTER I voted in the thread) once out of all the times I've clicked into the poll threads.

because the frontpage tracks votes for unregistered users, tracks ip addresses and has other abuse prevention. the forum doesn't

Ok, I can see the logic of that, but isn't there a way to suppress the poll in the thread? It's just not good UI design to have something that looks like it would work, only to give an error message to visit the front page, which is annoying. How about simply replacing it with a link to the front page and showing the current status of the poll?

this has been fixed. you can now vote from both the frontpage and the forum

post here if you find any issue with the system, ie. if it lets you vote twice, or gives any strange error messages
