I have almost finished my rig, i finally found a good motherboard. Now im wondering which cooler i should get for my cpu because i want to upgrade and do some heavy overclocking with it.

I have a i5 760 @2.8ghz (with my current cooler i was able to oc it to 3.3ghz but it runs pretty hot @(50-60 degrees Celsius on idle).

I've been doing soem researches and found out about the H70 liquid cooler, and the Noctua NH-D14, Khuler 920 and last but not least, the Coolit Vantage.

I was having a good feeling for the coolit vantage, but im not sure. So if theres an expert or anybody experienced with these things give me some of your advice on which to get.

Vantage is too old IMHO. If I were you and wanted an AIO cooler I would be looking at the latest generation of coolers and go to the Thermaltake Water2.0, either the performer or the pro depending on how thick of a radiator you want.

Thats not a bad idea seeing as my powersupply is thermal take anyways. Im quite the big fan of thermaltakes, but i dont know too much about their coolers. What cooling difference would there be between the vantage and the water 2.0?

well if I remember correctly the Vantage is about 3 years old and is the gen 1 series from CoolIt. Since then CoolIt and Asetek were in a war to find OEM companies to buy and rename their products for themselves. With time comes evolution, and as of right now, Asetek has the lead in the Thermaltake offerings with a lower heat in the head unit (dumping less heat into the loop) and thermal transfer. As a comparison, the Tt Water2.0 Pro will run head to head with the much larger H100.

As far as AIOs go at this current time, they are simply the most efficient, and you will see the pricing isn't so bad either.

How loud can nh-d14 be? seeing how big it is im guessing it would be really loud. Im trying to find out the cooling difference between a the vantage and the corsiar h80 and the nh-d14, after doing several researches, it seems those 3 are the only capable coolers in my reach.

it wont be loud at all it has a 120 and 140 mm fan. they make quiet fans to begin with and you pair it with monster cooler so quiet cooling.

How loud can nh-d14 be?

Completely inaudible over my case fans.

What's the price difference between the Phanteks PH-TC14PE and the Noctua NH-D14? Performance wise, the PH-TC14PE takes the cake.

Don't get the Vantage, refer to what sneekypeet said.

I have similar to older noctua models. cooling would be massive just from looking at it.

Wont fit well at all, has ram clearance issues, weighs near a ton and will quite possible cause issues with a card in the top slot. I have owned all of the coolers you ask about, and while the Noctua D-14 is one of the best air coolers on the market, for compatibility, you cant beat the room offered around the CPU with the AIO coolers.

You do want matched colored slots for dual channel memory! Check section 2-8 of your manual.

This is quite a drag then....I guess my only option for now is the vantage, its the only cooler thats conviniently close by. Every other cooler i had a chance to buy are either over my budget or far from me or ebay issues.

There are smaller air coolers that perform really well.

Coolermaster TPC812, Xigmatek Dark Night Night Hawk Edition, Be Quiet Black Rock 2 come to mind.

Im in toronto, and my budget for a cooler is exactly 100, nothing over.
I would appreciate decent air coolers as well, something as strong as the noctua.

And like i said i like convenience when it comes to purchases. I shop on sites like kijiji, redflagdeals, (i hate ebay), sites in toronto im fine with.

There are smaller air coolers that perform really well.

Coolermaster TPC812, Xigmatek Dark Night Night Hawk Edition, Be Quiet Black Rock 2 come to mind.

Those are good coolers, but then in my case at the end of the day. It all comes down to convenience, i dont want to have to wait 2/24 hours or have to order anything, i just want to go and pick it up, and hook it up when i g
