Hi guys. i am new in here.

i live in NZ. I have an overclocked gtx 460 1GB and want to upgrade it to something much more powerful.

I cant afford top end cards. But I can afford gtx 660ti or maybe gtx 670.

how are those cards compared to an overclocked gtx 460 1gb?

a GTX 670 costs at least $600 to $650 in here. a gtx 660ti costs at least $530.

i saw the benchmarks. a gtx 670 can be at least 10fps faster than a gtx 660ti on average.

Is the extra fps worth it to go for gtx 670 or just get a gtx 660ti?

also, i am trying to buy gtx 670 on finance. I applied to get it on finance. I dont know if they accept my application. will find out soon.

These are top end cards we are talking about here. It's up to you. What resolution do you play with? If you have the money, definitely go for the 670, if you wanna save, go for the 660Ti. Both will max any game @ 1080p no problems.

I like to buy gtx 670. I applied to get it on finance. it will be $7 per week if i get it on finance.

i dont know if the finance company approves my application. If I cant get it on finance, then I will save up and get the gtx 660ti instead.

My res is 1920*1080. and i only use 2x AA with no AF and no Vsync.

my CPU is i5 4 core overclocked at 4.2ghz with 8GB DDR3 RAM.

so what do you think?

+1 on 670 if you can afford it, 660 if you can't, but both are nice cards to be sure. Either way you'll be happy :toast:

how long will it take for Nvidia to release next gen new cards in the same price range of gtx 660ti and gtx 670 from now?

I think it is a 1 year cycle, though, with the currently economy, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns into 18 month cycle for new GPU's to come out, I am not sure honestly.

I just bought a GTX 670, but that is because I game at 1440p, if I was at 1080p I would have been more than happy buying a Msi PE/OC edition 660ti. I got my GTX 670 for the price of a 660 Ti though, because newegg had a promotion on it and it came with a free game that I sold on Ebay that made up the difference. :)

so can i max out the upcoming games like Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Dishonored, call of duty: blackops 2, with a gtx 660ti at 1920*120 res with 2x AA, no AF and no Vsync?

Yes. Every game usually has one settings, like shadows, you might have to down a notch, but everything else can stay max.

That being said, if money is not that tight for you right now, just get the 670 so you have a little cushion for more demanding games in the next couple of years. But even then, the 660 Ti will be able to play those games on medium to high settings, so it is just how picky you want to be.

yeah, lets see if the Finance company approves my application to get the GTX 670 on payments.

otherwise it will take me a while to save $600.

Go with GTX670

I personally have an overclocked GTX460 that works pretty well but needs to be replaced, the problem is no local shops have any top end cards from AMD and Nvidia.

But if i was to get a new gen nvidia card GTX670 is as low as i'd love to go. tho GTX680 or HD7970 are the cards on my target list.

Go for GTX670 in your case since you have the money for it i don't see why you should hold back now.

at the same time an OC 670 matches stock 680 pace for pace. and in my personal experience, even an OC 680 in a lot of cases still is not very far ahead at all of a 670 OC of the same level.

the 670 is the sweet spot for this generation for best bang for your buck. and adaptive vsync is lifesaving for 1440p owners who like to play fps twitch games

I would probably sit tight for now and see how the price of the 660Ti develops. However, chances are, its going to increase due to piss poor production so its either 670 now, 670 later, or 660Ti with finance now. If you can find a 2nd hand 580 for cheaps (NZ$300-400?) you might want to go that route instead.

well, if i can get finance i will go for GTX 670. not gtx 660ti.

Do you think the finance company approves my application?

technically I should be able to get anything on finance if the item is over $500 in pricing.

What would prevent me from getting it on finance though?

I like Geforce. Radeon cards are not good. They are of low quality and dont support Physix. thats why I want to always buy a Geforce card.

I dont really see why ATI is still manufacturing video cards. Given the fact that 99.99% of the people tend to buy Nvidia cards.

And I dont see how ATI/AMD is still in business when they are obviously not wanted. There are maybe less than 1% of the people who

buy their crap products. Their CPUs and GPUs are crap and slow compared to Intel and Nvidia.

If you are playing a high res, go for the GTX 670 as it has more muscle at higher res than the 660 Ti.

As for stating nearly 100% of consumers buy nVidia, I would like to see where you found that statistic.

I personally go for which is the best value vs performance so 660 Ti this time round.

Widjaja: yes. The stats are everywhere. nearly 100% of the people tend to buy Nvidia and Intel products.

AMD/ATI is just pushing themselves in the market where they are obviously not liked.

For me Physix means a lot. and only Nvidia card support this feature. its a huge feature.

I ordered the GTX 670 from playtech.co.nz . they support Gilmore Finance as well.

I applied to get it off the Gilmore Finance. I filled out the application online.

do you think they will approve my application to buy it on finance?

It costs $600.

Anything higher than the 660ti would be a waste of money. :)

Depends if you meet the criteria.
With the interest you will most likely be paying, you will be looking at $700+ depending on the 670 you decide to purchase.

If your lucky they wont. What is it with people buying PC parts on credit. Its such a bad idea. You will end up paying so much more. PC parts go down so fast it just doest make since. Ok, so I'm anti give my money to the bank. Its only because they control everything.

Ok Ill stop now

Don't worry, there are people out there that think just like you,me included. But sometimes the upgrade itch is unbearable.
