I have 2 560Ti in SLI.
The question
In nVidia control panel there is an option to set PhyX to
Automatic
GPU1
GPU2
CPU.
Which is the correct/best option and why

if you want it GPU specific you select GPU 1 or GPU 2, which is hardware Physx layer.

Automatic will select and detect the best option for your setup in most cases-

Software Physx is used by the CPU, thus really not optimized for that.

Honestly Id leave it in automatic since you have 2 of the same cards in Synchronous SLI config. reading from another forum physx will be utilized on both GPUs in automatic, and it wont disable SLI effectivness.

Benchmark Scores I dont have time for that.
personally i always found the best performance for any physics intense game just to set it to GPU 2 (non display adapter)

Thank you guys
nVidia says to set PhyX to 2nd GPU. I think it would be safer to leave at auto.

Since You have 2 Homogeneous Cards Auto Would be best (splits Physx Load between both cards reducing frame rate hit)

if you had 2 Heterogeneous cards, (1 is weaker than the other) it would be best to set Physx to the weaker card.
