'The Departed' is based on 'Infernal Affairs' which is in fact a Chinese movie filmed in Hong Kong.
I was really surprised (in a positive way) to see that Pan's Labyrinth got three Oscars. And Leo will surely get another chance. Whitaker was way better!

he doesnt deserve an oscar...

pshh a remake of movie doesnt deserve on oscar

its sad that american movie indrustry sucks, the directors have no original ideas, wow and making movie after a comic characters lol...i think directors are intimidated by publicity and how the media would react..if they had an orignal movie...seriously directors nowadays have to please the their viewers..

Yeah, same as before; the winners are all from movies nobody saw! How many of you have seen all or even half of those movies? I bet it's less than 15%.

theres not really such thing as an original concept anymore.
Concepts are borrowed and adapted, thats the way literature, television, music, film, art and other media works...Weve been operating on borrowed ideas and influences for a LONG time now.

i was surprised departed won best picture. not surprised that martin one for directing however. i was also surprised that alan arkin won for supporting actor when eddie murphey seemed like the favorite. nothing else really surprised me. im in an oscar pool at work and i did ok. i missed best song. i thought one of the dreamgirls songs would have one. other than that it was sort of a bland oscars. ive seen pretty much all the nominated flicks and was happy for the pans labyrinth crew although i thought the movie was overhyped.

gotta love it when a heroin snorting grandpa who teaches his granddaughter to do a striptease to "Superfreak" gets an oscar!

that was a great movie. Scorsese's time had come, too bad it wasn't for a better film. Infernal Affairs was quite good.

I just saw the departed this past weekend and I found myself just dying to know when it would finally be over... I hated that movie. Absolutely nothing happened in that 10 hour film until the last 20 minutes or something. What a bore...
