New rig as follows:
CPU: I5 3570K

Mobo: Asus P8Z77- Deluxe

Ram: 4 x 4 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 - 2133

GPU: EVGA 680GTX 4gb

PSU: Corsair HX850

Storage: OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 512gb

Case: Coolermaster HAF XM

CPU Cooling: Asetek 570LX

What temps should I be looking for with this CPU under water, and what range of OC should I be shooting for?

Ambient temp is around 70F here, and P95 27.7 on stock everything Im hitting like 65C/70C/72C/72C.

I know Ivybridges run a little hot but that seems a little bit warm for me for the cooling Im running?

Any links for good info appreciated TY :)

Your temps seem high for stock speeds (maybe resit the heatsink). Generally I limit my temps to a maximum of 85c (personal preference, ideally I aim below 80c). I'm pretty sure you can reach 4.4Ghz pretty easily (assuming your temps don't sky rocket). 4.2Ghz is generally a good start. Increase the multiplier, and run prime (for few hours). If you get errors or fails, increase voltage by the smallest amount. Then.. just rinse and repeat the process. Should work till ~4.5Ghz+

I was able to hit 4.4Ghz @ 1.13v... Max core temp as registered in RealTemp 3.70 is 84C stressed by IBT (standard test)... Seems stable, found no WHEA log errors/warnings but I'll try to run some more tests...

You can get it to idle 10C above ambient, so why not?

FYI

I use i5-3570K on P8Z77-V LK, with 30C or below idle, and 50C ish under 100% load at 4.3Ghz

Your temperatures semm normal to me, considering what cooler you are using. 90 C is not unheard of for stock cooling, and the chip doesn't throttle until 105 C with IVB.

One thing you may try is turing the pump head by 90 degrees. Cooler orientation can make some difference with IVB it seems, as can the shape of the cooler base comapred to the IHS.

What cooler / do you open the CPU cap and repaste?

I use Coolermaster Hyper Evo 212+ as cpu cooler.

I used thermal paste that came with the cooler, not the stock one.

That is pretty cool temps , I have same thing Asus P8z77V-Pro with 3570k and CM 212 evo at stock clocks the max temp goes to 58c in prime (the cores avg much less as core3 runs hotter). In games it goes to 53c .

What fan speed do you run , standard, turbo profiles or fan expert2 ?

I set fans manually as stock were low like 600rpm so bumped up low % 20>35 and then made max limit temp 70>65c .
This now gives 900 rpm at idle and around 1250 at full load . funny the temps didn't really change much with higher fan speed .

That is too high for what you've got. My i5-3570K OC'd to 4300 runs IBT on "high" (with H100) max temps 63c. IBT runs 10c hotter than Prime95 on my machine. Your rig at stock speed should be in the high 40s running Prime95, not 70c. If reseating the block with new thermal paste doesn't work, you might have pump problems or air in the system. Look at the contact area when you remove the water block and see if it was making contact evenly.

I haven't changed any settings on the fan, only overclocked the frequency. My temp under load never exceeds 50C

Ignore Hood if you want, but if temps are 70c at stock clocks, what are they when you overclock? You have a 240mm radiator so why are temps that high? If I paid good money for a liquid cooling system, I would expect to be able to overclock without dangerous temps. My system at STOCK CLOCK SPEED won't get over 50c on the hottest core no matter how hard I push it. So if you're happy with 20 degrees centigrade higher than that, by all means ignore me.

If you check around the net even at stock clocks there pretty big delta between chips, even with same cooling . Probably has to do with how the IHS and HS contact area .

I saw one post user says 100c at stock clocks (I think I would of returned chip ) .

This is at idle with stock intel cooler oc,ed to 4.1.[3570k][asus board]

Seems high to me too. temps dont go over 50-55 whilst gaming atm with same settings.

I haven't used Asus probe in long time but your cpu temps almost match MB, ambient temps .
I have heard Asus probe shows lower temp readings than other temp utilities .

When you use turbo V do you know if its raises the turbo multiplier or base (just curious ).

I take it those are stock voltages on cores ?

None the less those sound good for intel cooler .
