XFX has a love hate relationship it seems with many, mainly from silent revisions of cards. They have even ticked me off royally from this... However I cannot question their customer service! My current card, an R7970 Ghz edition has been working flawless. However over the last few days, one of the fans developed a low RPM grinding noise that is really annoying.

Long story short, logged into the XFX site as I have registered all of my cards from them. Filled out a ticket describing the problem and asked if I could do an advanced RMA for just a fan and I would replace it.

Within 3 minutes, I kid you not, I had a response telling me that they are shipping an entire heatsink assembly with fans and apologized for the issue. They then said that if I was not comphy doing the install, to send mine in and they would fix it right up. I live eat and sleep hardware so replacement is not an issue for me. Anyways THANKS XFX! Now that was some pretty awesome support!!

Perfect time to change the TIM when changing out the heatsink-fan assemblies so while a fail, it is a win at the same time :toast:

A fan went out on my 3 week old XFX DD 7950 (fan suddenly slowed to a crawl and was obnoxiously loud). They had me send the card in and they said nothing was wrong with it, but they sent an old remanufactured one back and it has worked fine. On my 6670 single slot one they mailed me a refurbished cooler at no charge, though.

What do you think guys, I was tempted by this deal, but some of the reviews on the card itself sound pretty bad, and not everyone has such great CS experience with them either.

XFX Double D FX-797A-TDFC Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-b...

The problem is, most of the reviews are done on the OCed Black/GHz Editions, not this one.

NICE!!!

I had a similar issue with a HD 6950 from powercolor.
It isnt even under warranty( bought from Ebay used)
Contacted Support@powercolor, I told Them the issue , he said " I have a Bunch of those Fan Shroud's and Heat sinks laying around from RMA's" and he shipped it out right away.
I got it a week L8R(6 days).No questions asked.

It looks like Asrock is STARTING to come around as well.
Not all the way there , but they did replace my board (with some nudging) in 2 weeks.

Good card, will overclock ok, but not great compared to the tx2 based cards like the ghz edition. At that price though, I would be MORE than happy with it!

I think I might call XFX tomorrow and ask them if it will work with this, and if the display HDCP detection problems I had with the 660 Ti I tried and returned (which my GTS 250 doesn't have issues with), would be a legit reason for refund. I also couldn't even boot to desktop on DVI and the Nvidia HD Audio device never showed as plugged in, but on my friend's 5 year old Dynex TV it had no problems. Go figure, I have a Panasonic TV that's only a year old and my current GPU and CyberLink's BD & 3D Advisor tool both show it as HDCP capable.

No to XFX

I could not dissagree more. the xfx R7970 ghz may be crazy powerful, but longevity is a joke. I have been a long time xfx fan but after my recent experience I'll NEVER buy another xfx product. 4 months ago I purchased their 7970 ghz edition card and about 30 days ago it fried, and by fried I mean computer won't "post" with card installed. Their warranty policy is horrible and it will likely take you a month to get your replacement. I actually read their warranty policy which states they do not actually have to replace the card you send them with the same brand ie. AMD or Nvidia. On top of that they do not offer an advanced replacement option, I even offered to let them hold the full retail value from my bank account to make sure they got their defective card back.... "nope I do not have the ability to do that" they say. I actually paid not only for shipping to them but put a return shipping label in the box so I didn't have to wait for their 5 to 7 day gound shipping on the return. About 2 weeks ago I received my replacement 7970 ghz and all was good, until last night when the exact same failure took place and again after only 2 weeks I have a brand new dead XFX 7970 ghz edition video card. God I wish I would have done some research instead of just buying from the brand I had used in the past. Think I'll look into ASUS's ROG series, they actually offered an advanced exchange when my crosshair v died.

necroed an old thread but ASUS is honestly worse in my opinion on GPUs from the AMD side, if you like voltage locked cards like the DirectCU II TOP where increasing voltage increases VRM volts not GPU volts (I kid you not here) then feel free but Id rather have an XFX over an ASUS. Took 4 months and 3 RMAs to get a functional card,

RMA 1 = sent back same card with TIM, VRM temps were 120'C + artifacted
RMA 2 = sent back same card again with cooler loose screws loose rattled itself apart physically untill it basically killed it self
RMA 3 = sent me a refurbished card that was also voltage locked could barely do 1050 core worked fine stock. Solid it to a fellow reviewer here who then procedded to volt molt and solder every possible point on the card, managed 1100 mhz on a card that originally cost me $630 to get, didnt overclock for shit had cooler issues when it came to the VRM, locked voltages 1 month after release into the market aka January 2012 7970s were purchaseable got mine in February 2012. No voltage support nothing. So yea buy ASUS at your own risk.

Never had a issue with RMA's with XFX, Only thin to remember is if you live in the US ask them 1st before removing the cooler.

I had a buyer for my old 4890 which had a fan fault which they allowed me to send the card in and they sent it to the new owner..

I do wish they would stop with the voltage locking.

They started to make locked ones later on in the 7xxx range. I was going get a 7970 but they have revised them with locked voltages.

And good for you your 7600 still works lol.

Meh, Ive read mixed reviews about XFX's RMA. From my understanding Non-EU customers generally get better support.

Not so long ago I had a 6970 from XFX that was running very very hot in idle and load, So i decided to contact XFX about it and ask them if i was allowed to remove the cooler to apply some MX-4. They straight out said no and was more interested in getting me to register then card then actually helping me with my problem.

My argument was that it was a working and fully functional GPU. there was nothing physically wrong with the card apart from the high temps and I didnt think that, that problem alone was worth sending it away and waiting a month for.

Nope - all they wanted me to do was register the card or send it in.
----------

Long after the warranty had expired i tried to replace the cooler on the card as the fan was making very audiable grinding noises.

long story short - I ended up killing the card somehow but I found out that you needed some sort of pneumatic drill to remove the old thermal paste as its rock solid - I was massaging it for hours with rubbing alcohol and it wasnt doing much good. the thermal paste had to be lightly 'chiseled' off with a flat headed screw driver.

You could say it was my fault for not sending it in, but meh...

WOW, sounds like they kinda stuck it on there to stay on :(.. Not like here at all as the paste as always been like soft at the worsted even cotton would rub it off lol.

Is a shame they treat the UK \ Europe differently what you are and not allowed to do :(.

I really should ask my lawyer friend about this, but then again its down to the companies disgression what sort of policies it offers. Either way you can clearly accuse XFX as well as any other Nvidia or AMD partner that has the same policies of running double standards.

It doesnt matter if I buy a 7950, 7970, 680, 690 or Titan. they all roll off the same production line. Why should the EU be treated any differently when it comes to Warranty?

Unfortunately, Its just how the cookie crumbles. but once I get enough evidence together then I might be able to challenge their warranty policies.
