Hello ya geeks!
I haven't been online for a while (im sure no1 missed me)
I just ordered a budget media laptop [Lenovo G585 - $400 shipped] for light 3D and 1080p streaming.
I ordered the high end model.

SPECS:
-----------------------------------------
CPU: AMD E2-1800 2x1.7GHz
GPU: AMD HD7340 IGP 680MHz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Symetric-DC
HDD: 120GB SSD
OS: Win 7 Home 64Bit

I am going to run 3D intense software on this machine so it seemed to be the best low budget 3D machine.
It's GPU performance is off scale compared to older IGP cards like the HD3200 or the
Intel HD3000.
GPU will be overclocked by 150MHz. (a friend has the same laptop)

What kind of 3D perforamce, Flash and Game performance can I expect?
Any 1 owning a E2-1800 machine?

The processor is a AMD Fusion E2-1800 @ 1.7GHz Dual Core so it is defenetly NOT a high end CPU - but runs circles around the Atom Cores and also surprisingly out performed my Turion X2 TL-56 in multiple benchmarks.

Will following tasks be doable fluently?
I do not mind running games on lowest resolution/detail level.

1080p
Games: CoD WaW/WoT
Software: Blender

TY for replys ahead of time!!! :toast:

i would've went with the A8 for the price point. Blender will take 4ever and cod will be unplayable but batt life will kick ass.

I do :) I own a Lenovo x131e with the same specs as that.

I havent played with it to much, havent had the time. But i have played games like Torchlight 2 on it and it runs that game pretty good near flat out. I have yet to test anything else realy, but to make sure it runs these games good you must update the drivers to the lastest ones.

If you realy want to see what it can do go to Youtube and look under Lenovo x120e, or x121e or X130e and you will see how they perform in games, as there pretty much the same spec. Ive seen people run TF2 without to much issues also.

here is a video of a E-450 and a hd6320 (which is a step down in RAM speed, GPU and CPU)
running MW3 with relativly high frame rates.

im sure it will handel MW1 just fine

I would have gone for at least an AMD A4 in my opinion. The clock speed may be 1.7GHz but the thing only gets about 3 GFLOPS in Linpack (personally tested on my Gigabyte E350N-USB3) when my mobile AMD Phenom II X4 X920 gets like 25 GFLOPS. Probably gets good battery life and I know you have a passion for slow hardware, but don't expect anything more than a high end netbook performance-wise.

One i5 rig is enough in the house!
I do love "slow" hardware!
Best feeeling ever when you see a AMD E2 with a AMD IGP run 3D software better than i3 machines with intel HD graphics - why spend $150 extra on a i3 laptop if this one has a better GPU and a "FASTER THAN ATOM" cpu? :)
Right??
I mean I don't need a hexacore with 2x gtx680's in order to run older games and enjoy some media, right? :D
8GB and SSD is already over the top for all the stuff im planing on doing with this machine....im sure 2GB with a good oll 80gb 5400rpm would do the trick!

I understand, but for the equivalent or a little more cost of the laptop you ordered, you could have had:

$400 - lenovo IdeaPad S405 (59351953) Notebook AMD A-Seri...

$480 - Acer Aspire V3-551-8469 Notebook AMD A-Series A8-4...

I really don't know why they make $400 laptops and $300 desktops with such a small processor when there are high end quad cores in that segment, but that's business for ya I guess.

Rendering anything with a slow CPU, especially projects that require lots of edits, gets old really quickly. My Core i7 3770K compiles Team Fortress 2 maps 4x faster than my aforementioned laptop processor. :)

My unit was $339 + 2 years extended waranty + shipping.
all that brought me to $387.95 + TAX
a S405 would have brought me close to $500 with the same options.

That I would better understand. Didn't know you bought a warranty with it.

When it comes to "netbooks" under 12" screen these specs are pretty much the best you can get.

Battery life so far i can get 9.5hrs idle time, and im sure i an work the OS more to get even longer ;)
