Apple has the best mobile OS with iOS6. Apple has the best app support. Apple also has the best resale value.

This is a huge debate I do not want to get into cause it clearly shows you have your mind made up. iOS does have a large following but android is no slouch when it comes to being a head on contender with customization. The link below is a GREAT read for people wondering some of the differences between android and iOS.

I'm not saying android isn't right there on par with it. I do feel that Apple edges them out though. If that makes me a fanboy, so be it.

Technically speaking at its price point, ipad is inferior to any other current popular tablet. If you enjoy the iOS, the apple store, or are simply invested into Apple already, then it makes sense to choose apple.

My wife has an iPad 2 and it is quite useful, and works pretty well. You will have to remember that iPads and iPhones are very fragile, though I don't think this is as big of a problem with iPad mini as it is with the larger iPads.

I think Apples largest mistake with the iPad Mini is the DPI on the screen and its pricing (it should try and stay below $300)

Best in the reviews or forums is not always best in the real world.

The Asus Transformer 100 is selling for about 300 € and is well build. I still love it after a year, just as much as my pocket Nexus 7. Samsung Tab and Note have a lot more accesories. I couldn't care less for retina or 600.000+ appstores. I have an Office, pdf and some other app stuff and for me it's enough, apart from multimedia and some game.

Another plug for the Nexus 7: GPS and Bluetooth built in, compass and accelerometers.

Olny weakness I saw, it only has a front facing camera, and it's only 1.2 MP good for quick shots and video but that's about it.

I got my wife a Nexus 7 for Christmas and she loves it. Does just about everything she wants it to. She uses it more than the computer now. It's pretty fast, it's small, and has a nice display. The only thing I don't like about the Nexus 7 is the lack of camera on the back side of the tablet. There is only one facing towards you which is clearly intended to be used for video chat.

All in all, I got the Nexus 7 because it was a great bang for your buck and has plenty power. My wife has had no complaints about it thus far; I got her the 32Gb Wi-Fi only varient.

What price? Doesn't the 32Gb TF300 retail for 400 USD and the 32Gb Nexus 7 retails for 250 USD? I'm not seeing the price being better. It's also a bigger tablet. Some people get a 7-inch tablet for the reason that it is smaller. It's all preference, but for the price, I don't see what you're trying to get at. At least with prices here in the US.

I got a 16gb 10.1 TF300 for $220.
Definitely not retail price because the 16Gb even goes for significantly more than that. The Nexus 7 also retails for 200 USD for the 16Gb version, so I'm sure it's possible to find it cheaper than that.
Most people dont need 32gb.
Yup, but that is what I got because I needed a present and they only had the 32Gb varient and I was willing to pay 50 USD more so I could still get her a Nexus 7 for Christmas. (It was a couple days before, I didn't have time to order it online.) It was still cheaper than everything else.

So unless your bargain hunting and you find a great deal, retail prices will always put the Nexus 7 below the Transformer Tab, and for the retail price for a 16Gb TF300, you could get a 32Gb Nexus 7 with HSPA+. The tablet size isn't worth that much imho.

My brothers wife has a Kindle fire and I've used it and would not have one.. Now, I just bought my daughter a Nexus 7 for christmas and that table kicks all kinds of ass! I'll be buying me one to replace my Acer A100 tegra 2 chip. If you get the Nexus 7 be sure to get the 32gb variant. :toast: The only reason I say this is because it doesn't have a SD slot.

EDIT: I'm with TMM and would get a TF300 over both of them. If you can afford it.

My wifes kindle fire NON HD is pretty nice but would rather have a much faster tablet if I was even going to buy one.

It's nice hardware for the money no doubt, but with it tied into the amazon store and it not using a full android os... That's the reason I wouldn't have one over a Nexus 7. but if your coming from an old kindle and all of your books are tied in.. then sure buy a fire, but just remember you can get the kindle app for your nexus 7 as well. :toast:

Yea they are super simple to root and unroot. If she didn't like it then she could just run the unroot utility and it will be back stock.

Yea.. I already tried to explain that, but still no go.. Plus, she's already broke it.. Still I'd buy a Nexus 7 over a Fire, because it uses the Tegra3 chip. My daughters looks so much better then my A100.. lol
