Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my system but i'm a little confused what parts to renew.

My current system:

I7 2600k
Asus p8p67pro
16gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
2 x Gainward gtx 570 gs "Goes like hell" (SLI)
1000w OCZ GOLD PSU

I use my system mainly for gaming on 1080p on my 55' LED TV.

I've run into some problems with the latest games. Far Cry 3, BF3, ...
They can not maintain a solid 60fps anymore. (GPU memory bottleneck?) and seem a little stuttery.

I like to play all games on ultra with lots of AA.

What would you guys recommend to upgrade?

I was thinking I7 3770K - ASUS Z77 Sabertooth
GTX 680 SLI (OR 690) or GTX 670 4gb SLI

Please let me know what you think.

The AA is what is killing your FPS as your 570's only have 1280MB vRAM, I would probably go with 670 SLi as they're quite a bit better than the 570's in every aspect and also have more vRAM, your CPU is absolutely fine and upgrading won't yield much benefit in games.

Are you running the 2600K at stock? There's not much you can upgrade and I can't see how 570 SLI can't maintain 60FPS ULTRA preset for BF3. I have around 50 with one although on 1680x1050. Far Cry 3 is a bit tricky is you enable HDAO (AMD speciality).

That being said wait a few months more when new gen comes out or if you have the money, rumor says GK110 will be in a card out by the end of February. I'd say it's worth waiting.

I run my i7 2600k at 4,6 MHz with a h80.
In far cry i use the hbao setting. The game is smooth as long as i disable aa.
The moment i do the game feels laggy and my gpu's heat up to above 80 degrees Celsius!

In Bf3 the problems are caused by the lack of vram.

I also need to replace my mobo due to sata problems.
Will a Z77 mobo perform well with the 2600k?
And is there a big difference between pci 2.0 and 3.0. For ex Gtx 680 sli?

Not Much

Greetings, I just updated my Pc from i5 2500K to i5 3570K and dont see much.

All else is the same and as much of us know, that its no use to use more than i5 (quad core with 4 threads) for gaming uses.

I would advise the use of extra funds to go Gigabyte for sake of reliability. And there are some wicked ram you can invest to lets say a Corsair Dominator 32 gigs.

I mean if you got the cash and want the most out of it why stick to LGA 1155? go 2011 and use the X79. Thats going to set you up for at least 3-5 years and show more than 20 to 30 increase.

TPU got the reviews you need, so read it and show us what you think. :toast:

Your 2600k is ample. All you need to do is upgrade the gpu's. 7950,7970,670 and 680 all chop. Take your pick.

You know, I love my SB-E i7 3820 but going from a 2600k isn't a huge upgrade unless you go to a 6 core CPU which isn't going to help you in all games. I would wait for the next generation of video cards to come out. That's what I'm doing with my 6870s right now because 1Gb of vram is a bit limiting at 1080p. I couldn't play Farcry 3 on Ultra without running out of vram, even without any AA.

^ The results would be something like that if he invested in X79 for gaming if he's not doing multi-monitor and/or SLI/CFX if this is a gaming machine. :p

I agree your 570 sli is still powerful, just wait it out and just grab a 780 sli or something when it comes out.
