Hi guys, my friend is Building a computer and wants advice on which graphics card he should buy. (He wants to spend around $300 and he is keen on buying something from Newegg as he is is going to have access to one). Unfortunately i don't know what other hardware he has, but i believe he is looking at an i5 3570k or and i7 3770k. He plays WoW and LOL a lot so I told him that a Nvidia card might be good, I thought maybe this? ASUS GTX660 TI-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB 19... let me know what you think. Cheers :toast:.

What kind of Resolution is he playing at??

As much as i love nvidia hardware and due to the size of the bundle with AMD cards, I would say get a 7870 or a 7950 as they are better suited to your needs

you get 2 unreleased good games with Amd cards and none with that Ti so the choice for me would be simple.

I7 seems overkill for WoW and LoL which are not heavily threaded. I would go for i5 and any amd gpu, as the game deals are insane

as a WoW player myself, i can attest to the fact that an i5 is plenty enough. I use a 7870 2GB and get 60-90 FPS on ultra (WoW favors Nvidia cards though).

I agree.... the performance of a hyperthreaded core is slightly slower than a non-hyperthreaded physical core, and with an i5 you still get 4 cores anyway.

Unless you're compiling large .NET applications or using it for heavy server use, the i5 is the way to go. On the flipside, the i7-3770k is generally more overclockable than i5-3570k.

from what I could tell Fermi based chips ate WoW for breakfast, and the last time I played it, it barely uses 2 cores anyway.

I found that AMD graphics cards get a higher frame rate for the same price, they also come with two free games so that's a plus =D since LoL is a twitch game, a high frame may be preferred. and a 3770k is a bit over kill for LoL and WoW.
