Thats what I thought too, the first reaction was some kinda hack, but idk.

The second highest score (2500k, 7850, 1 gpu, valid) shows gfx scores around the 9k mark.

If I go to the 3570k, for eg this guy, he still gets a 10k score.

I think it has to do with memory transfer rates too? Intel chips have rates in 20k.. AMD ones have a hard time reaching that number.

Okay, I checked the hwbot submissions and the highest in that config had a score of 9064.

http://hwbot.org/submission/2359205_eraldofreitas_3dmark11___performance_radeon_hd_7850_8612_marks

That 3dMark database is bugged, most likely reporting 2x cards as 1 (or someone is editing the files to change the results/detection).

Bottlenecking does occur a bit, but these scores make more sense:

Highest score - 9800 (1k usd CPU)
http://img.hwbot.org/u13834/image_id_878116.jpeg

With i5-2500k - 9064
http://img.hwbot.org/u45028/image_id_924036.png

With FX-8350 - 8515

You're interpretting it wrong. Do you base all your decisions on 3D mark 2011?

The test rigs are NOT the same.

Look carefully at the specification. The Intel rig has better hardware!!!!!

i5 rig has 16GB of RAM and 4GB of video Memory.
The FX rig has only 8GB of RAM and 2GB of video memory

You don't find many 7850s with 4GB of video memory, so it could be a crossfire configuration on the Intel rig too.

and that's a oc 7950; stock 7850's should be in the 6k range gpu score no mater the cpu.

Im trying to pick a popular benchmark which has lots of results recorded to i can base the analysis on that. I dont think system memory above 4gb affects scores in the 3dmark11 performance setting (neither does video memory >2gb)

and that's a oc 7950; stock 7850's should be in the 6k range gpu score no mater the cpu.

Bleh, i just did the search again, and your right, its showing 7900 series even though I put the 7850 in the search criteria.

This is more accurate for the Intel i5-2500k:

http://img.hwbot.org/u43201/image_id_841549.jpeg

But only 6817? lol.

1100T for comparison - http://img.hwbot.org/u43829/image_id_866849.png (feeling a bit better now :D)

As I said you don't find many 7850s with 4GB of video memory, so it could be a crossfire configuration on the Intel rig too. Two GPUs will affect the score significantly.

The scores of the 1100T (4.2GHz) and i5-2500k (5.3Ghz) are almost the same. Only 16 points separate the two CPUs.

Intel needed a 1.1Ghz overclock for only 16 points more????

That 11k score with just one HD7850 looks awfully suspect.......even HD7970's or GTX680's have to be OC'ed with an OC'ed i5/i7 to rate that kind of score. Here's my FX8350 @4.45ghz + 2x GTX670 score.....

The Vishera may not bench as well as an Intel equivalent in synthetic benchmarks, but they're plenty fast enough for gaming.....and that's where it should count the most.:rockout:

I think youre interpreting this wrong because look at the scores for the same CPU/GPU the range of scores is absolutely huge. ive had the exact same set up/clocks as someone but yet the scores was hugely varied. so its obvious software, other components etc count. not just cpu/gpu. but when I compare to intel chips they seem to have greater scores, not sure why tbh. maybe someone that fully understands can explain. and the max score on 3dmark 11 I can get is 7000. and that's a 7950, but the physics certainly fails. oh and I run 4gb and get a better score than when I run 8gb or 12gb (not much just several more points etc)

I think ive figured out the issue:

3DMark 11 v1.0.4 Improvements:

Keyboard focus is no longer checked during the demo or when running the benchmark in a loop. Note that if the display switches to the desktop due to a popup window during the benchmark, the run will still be aborted as the display mode is no longer the same.
3DMark 11 now remembers the last custom resolution used.
GPU count detection for multi-GPU systems is now correct even when SystemInfo is explicitly disabled.
3DMark 11 will now prevent Windows from entering Sleep during the test.
The license key is now reset when the benchmark is reinstalled, allowing removal of invalid key

So people with multi-GPU systems were disabling SystemInfo, and so their scores are being reported in the single card category.

Messed up database.

As I said you don't find many 7850s with 4GB of video memory, so it could be a crossfire configuration on the Intel rig too.

Yes, your right. I didnt think of it that way ^^

I have 3570k + 7850. I score about 8k.
