finding a song just by audio

Hi,

I'm from Holland and I am referring to an old topic (186 days ago) about finding a song wit a program like Tunatic, or Audiotag or Shazam.
These progs however are useless: none of them recognizes what I'm looking for. I can upload the part of the song but I don't guess this will help. Shazam isn't available for pc Win7 and I don't have I-pods or pads or ingenious telephones, just a simple phone for calling someone (wasn't that its purpose?)
Anyway, are there any suggestions left?

just google 2 lines of the lyrics. that is usually enough and worked for me everytime.

else join a forum like generalnonsense.net and ask people around.

There is an app for it for the iPhone that works pretty well. I have no idea what it's called though or if there is a Windows version.

That's the problem. It's just a long guitarsolo somewhere in the middle of the song.

Did you try midomi.com site suggested in first post?

You could also try to run those apps on PC using Android emulator.

Yes. Tried that one to: no result. If you're interested I could let you hear what I mean, but it's something I recorded on a videotape in 1993 (!) which has been broken and from I still managed to record the audio....

Looked at it. No use: it's an app for phones, tablets etc. and I mentioned I don't have that kind of stuff. It must be for a Win7 prog (computer)

The link in the first quote I believe is the same company as soundhound but for use on PC no install needed. Now having said that , not all music or riffs or vocals will be in their data bases for search results.

I bet if you posted a 10 second clip on youtube asking for identification to the riff someone would tell you pretty fast so be sure to leave comments open. (hopefully that is legally ok?)

Well maybe someone here will know but after a bit and no results I would head over to youtube and try doing it there. Oh and you would be surprised at what youtube is and can be used for. Good luck.
