Hi all,

I get the upgrade/change buzz every so often. I am just looking at my setup and considering what I could chane/upgrade if at all.

Here is where I am at:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68AP
GPU: HD6970 Turbo
CPU: i5 2500k
Memory: XMS3 8GB
Sound: X-Fi XtremeGamer
PSU: Corsair 620watt
Storage: Samsung 128 SSD & F4 2TB, F2 1TB x2
Monitor: Samsung 24" p2450 & Samsung 22" 226Cw
Speakers: Logitech Z-2300
OS: Win7 64bit
Case: ATCS 840
Keyboard: Corsair K90
Mouse: Deathadder (Black Edition)

I am considering changing the mouse, as its slightly big in my hand, to may be the Corsair M65. I am also looking at upgrading my sound card to the new Logitec Z series. Perhaps even upgrading my monitor to a 27" at a higher resolution. But none of these are definite, I am the research stage lol

I play a few games, listen to a bit of music and do a bit of photoshop etc. I do like a quality system that doesn't get sluggish.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Honestly, if it's suiting all your needs I can't see any reason why it would need an upgrade if you don't feel that it needs one yourself. I see a perfectly capable machine and any money you're going to invest into it will cost a lot of fairly minimal gain. So if you're happy with your machine, I would let it keep chugging away and save that money that you would use for an upgrade to invest in something newer down the road.

I have a 28" display and personally I think it's a little big unless you're planning on sitting back a little bit. Not to say that it's bad, but it's big and if you sit too close to it you're looking around to see one side of the display to the other. If you're going to go that big, go all out and go 1440p but if you do that you may be wanting a faster video card, so upgrades can easily start compounding on each other as well. :p

All in all, you machine looks fine. So if performance isn't an issue I would invest in things that will be more confortable. I personally like my Logitech G500 mouse but I'm ready to throw my Logitech Wave keyboard out the Window.

Assuming from your parts that you use the computer for gaming, and you eager to spend more money:

- a Lightboost ready monitor perhaps
- more SSD is always good, no exception.
- the picture below

I haven't had a problem with Microsoft mice, so I'm not going to bash them. I like how they fit in my hand as well but I feel the movement on the G500 is smoother. I wouldn't call the MS ones crap. I would call them a good value mouse with decent quality considering they cost something 20 dollars where the G500 is usually somewhere between 50 and 70 USD. Currently 60 on NewEgg and 50 at Best Buy. So for half the price get a decent mouse and for twice as much you get a nice mouse.

It's not "my" picture and I didn't mean to offend you:toast:

I agree that the picture is far from perfect (little outdated too), but it's still pretty accurate sensor wise when it comes to gaming (precise and steady tracking on different surface with different speeds, etc).

edit:

isn't the g500 a laser mouse? You can't be serious.:shadedshu

Those MS mice are flawless If you overclock them, perfect shape and tracking.

It is laser and it works on all the surfaces that my optical mice had trouble with. It's smooth as pie and it works well. You're going to bitch because it's laser and that's it? Give me a break and go troll elsewhere if that's going to be your attitude. You also don't need to overclock the G500 to get it to poll faster, it supports 1000 reports/s out of the box without any tweaks. Not that you need it but it's a supported feature of the mouse.

Dunno what do you mean by my "attitude", I did not troll for sure, and I'm pretty confident about my knowledge regarding gaming mice. The g500 uses the Avago ADNS-S9500 which has positive acceleration, so it's pretty far from perfect.

That's why the last 2 other people to post on the thread have said that they love their G500, right? I don't care what the sensor uses, if it works well and it's comfortable I could care less what drives it.

Buy an AIO for that CPU and overclock.
Or a gold/platinum rated PSU at 850watts for some future headroom with GPU's

+1: I like this idea. 5Ghz could be in your future. Might need a better motherboard for higher overclocks though. 4+1 phase VRMs aren't bad but it might limit you.

You are the one who is trolling only because your feelings are hurt, because you saw something bad about your mouse on the internet. I just recommend something to the OP, I only had good intentions, you are the one who hijacked the thread.
The g500 is indeed a good mouse and you can play any game with it of course, but you can tell the same about all the other mice in the market btw, that tier naming on the picture is stupid I agree), but - on the other hand - it's very far from perfect and there are much better mice out there to get price/performance wise (especially for high-level or for competitive gaming).

He came to a tech site for tech advice and I gave him mine, that's all. I understand if you disagree with me (as how I replied to you). There is no reason to offend me based on your beliefs, so please (if you want to,) educate yourself what the world currently thinks and knows about different gaming mice technology and performances and stop trolling me. Thanks.

No, I'm blasting you because you posted a picture that you didn't even create that is, imho, full of crap where I'm recommending what I've had real experiences with. I think the people are more interested in what is practically good not theoretically good.

I'm bashing you not for giving your opinion but the fact that it's seemingly bad advice because its the opinion of a picture someone else made that scream troll on it. Come on, "God tier" and "shit tier", it's exactly the nonsense that shouldn't be posted here. Have you used all those mice? Can you personally vouch for them? I can for the G500.

So for the sake of the thread, I will stop but I'm making it crystal clear that content like this is only going to fuel a fire by calling products "god tier" and "shit tier" which is about as far from professional and well constructed as you can get.

So you can complain all you want about me attacking you, but there is a reason for it. Not for what you believe or having your own opinion, but rather how you went about conveying it. It's not what you're saying, it's how you're saying it.

I apologize if your annoyed with how I responded, but my mind has not changed any any of this. It's not you, it's that stupid picture that someone else made and that you posted.

Also, how can you defend this crap anyways?

When something says, "Do not trust people that recommend these mice, they don't know what they're talking about," is about as trollish as you can get.
I mean look at it, the guy couldn't even spell recommended right. Credible my eye.

You want to know why I'm pissed off? That is it.

I'd like to note that the Deathadder 3.5g isnt on that picture, and is one of the few mice that has a decent sensor in it. OP may want to investigate into Sensor lag and acceleration problems with mice, but from my knowledge there are only around 6-7 mice with a specific model of sensor (the 3.5G included) that doesnt have these problems.

I only posted the pic because I was not in the mood to write down the whole list, and I posted because the list itself with the order of the mice are very accurate, but the naming of the tiers are utterly stupid, I agree, the creator was probably some troll wannabe indeed.

But again, the list and the order is still looks solid. Don't forget that you won't really find a single mice (even laser ones) which won't track "smooth as pie", to simply put, nobody makes mice nowadays which won't follow the movement of your hand smoothly, this is not a "pro" anymore, on the contrary, any tracking flaw in 2013 is a "con" and should make the mice "shit" in the eyes of a gamer.

While the angle snapping can be disabled in the drivers, the Avago ADNS-S9500 (Logitech G9x, Logitech G500,etc) still has positive acceleration which makes consistent aiming very hard for many (and almost impossible for a few) gamers, so it's a solid fact that the g500 is very far from being the best mouse in 2013. And if I may share my personal opinion, I would buy and break a cheap g400 in every 1-2 years rather than play a fps game with the g500, any day.

I guess I should hate my Logitech G5 super mouse?

Wow, based on the Ikaruga's post where the hell does my Logitech G5 stand? Lol... it must be even lower than low lying shit.

I friggin' love this mouse to death. I love laser mice and this is the best one I have ever owned. It has a 2000 dpi laser engine and gives 1000 USB reports per second.
I'm not even sure how old it is...I got it years ago.
It still works perfect. This one is the blue model which was a RMA replacement for the old brown one I had many years prior to this blue one.
This blue one has never given me any problems and is accurate as hell.
It does everything well, gaming included.
I use it on a light grey speckled laminate desktop with no mouse pad too.
All I ever did was replace the teflon pads once and keep them clean. I clean them a lot during the day.
To me the important thing is how does the mouse feel in your hand, to YOU.
Does it respond quickly, precisely? Is is accurate. Is the weight correct for what you want to do? Does it fit your hand well.
And as far as personal opinions go...here's one of mine. OALAEHO (opinions are like assholes...everyone has one)
Here's another, it's what the user feels and thinks, not what some stupid specs say. Just because it's now 2013 doesn't mean 2013 has better stuff.

Is this post a troll? I don't think so...do you?

While the angle snapping can be disabled in the drivers, the Avago ADNS-S9500 (Logitech G9x, Logitech G500,etc) still has positive acceleration which makes consistent aiming very hard for many (and almost impossible for a few) gamers, so it's a solid fact that the g500 is very far from being the best mouse in 2013. And if I may share my personal opinion, I would buy and break a cheap g400 in every 1-2 years rather than play a fps game with the g500, any day.

I think you might be missing something here. Any kind of peripheral is good or bad depending on the owner. From a technological standpoint a sensor might have more DPI diffirent polling w/e but that doesnt mean its better technologically advanced has absolutely no meaning when it comes to these things. what makes g400 not the best mouse? more importantly what makes YOU the person to decide that?

If you’re in the market for a new mouse, I thought this list would come in super handy, it details all mice still for sale that have flawless/perfect sensors. No positive or negative accel, no prediction/angle snapping, and no other reported widespread issues.

- Microsoft WMO 1.1 (STMicroelectronics OS MLT 04).
- Microsoft IMO 1.1 (STMicroelectronics OS MLT 04).
- Microsoft IME 3.0 (STMicroelectronics OS MLT 04).
- Razer Deathadder 3G with latest firmware (Avago ADNS-S3668).
- Razer Deathadder 3.5G with latest firmware (Avago ADNS-S3888).
- Razer Abyssus with latest firmware (Avago ADNS-S3888).
- Logitech G400 with PID above LZ13333 (Avago 3095)

Additionally, here are mice that have no prediction (or it can be disabled), but do have accel or other issues. Mice with prediction/angle snapping (e.g. Logitech MX518) have been left out entirely:

- Cooler Master Storm Spawn (Avago ADNS-3090). Jittering and high LoD fixed by firmwares 32, but have introduced some tracking issues with certain surfaces.
- Logitech G9 (Avago ADNS-6090). Skipping. Negative acceleration.
- Logitech G9x, Logitech G500 (Avago ADNS-S9500). Positive acceleration.
- Steelseries Xai, Steelseries WoW Cataclysm (Avago ADNS-A9500). Positive acceleration.
- ROCCAT Kone+ (Avago ADNS-9500). Positive acceleration.
- Mionix Naos 5000 (Avago ADNS-9500). Positive acceleration.
- Razer Mamba, Razer Naga, Razer Imperator, Razer Disney TRON (Philips Twin Eye PLN 2032). Z-axis issue.
- Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 7, Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 9 (Philips Twin Eye PLN 2032). Z-axis issue. Click bug?
- Razer Lachesis, Razer Orochi (Philips Twin Eye PLN 2031). Z-axis issue.
- Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 5 (Philips Twin Eye PLN 2031). Z-axis issue.
- Cooler Master Storm Inferno (Philips Twin Eye PLN 2031). Z-axis issue.

The G500, G600, G700, and G9X are "shit" mice, but the G400 is one of the best???? :wtf:

What exactly makes the G400 so much better than the other Logitech mice?

Personally, I loved my G5 for many years, and feel the G500 is a appropriate replacement.
