Shouldn't be any reason why it would have a problem.
I am running my ASUS HD7870 Direct CU ii with a 650w PSU and other components in my system specs.

you could run crossfired 7870 on that psu if you want, so no problems for just one.

Another question, which of these is better: GIGABYTE HD7870 2GB GDDR5 Ultra Durable 197€ or the Asus 225

go for the cheapest in this case the gigabyte -the windforce cooler is very nice.
If you can, look for 7870 tahiti LE(based on the same gpu as 7970 but cut down) they are around the same price as normal 7870's but faster and better bang for buck.

Yup, they are also sometimes referred to as 7870XT for Sapphire and the Myst Edition for Powercolor.

Yes it faster and it can overclock to match or beat a 7950 Boost which the ASUS and Gigabyte can't.

Apparently the 7870 Tahiti based GPU can run stable at 1200Mhz core clock when benching.
Bare in mind, this may not be the same overclock for every card of the same make.

If choosing the standard 7870, the gigabyte would be the better of the two based on price vs performance.
Nothig wrong with the ASUS model, just has a higher premium as ASUS generally does on their hardware.
