I think the last time I remember image quality not being the best with an NVidia driver update was with Crysis 1. Things in the distance looked so much better on an AMD card then Nvidia. When both were running AF x16

Yeah, and that very well may have been the one I'm thinking of. Texture pop-ins were a problem in that game, esp with performance tweaks. It caused me to do a lot of trial and error experimenting with cvars on my P4/X1950Pro rig, but I finally came up with a pretty good solution and was able to get adequate FPS at 1200x900 with max textures and med shadows and shaders with no noticeable pop-ins, despite using veg and detail draw tweaks that boosted FPS quite a bit. The res looked fine on my then 20" viewable display too. I did have to use a lot of stealth to avoid lag in a couple maps though.

Lately Nvidia has had some issues in a fair number of "Gaming Evolved" titles too, but it's mostly initial driver problems vs tradeoffs with performance boosting drivers.

I didn't notice any image quality deviations with the new NVidia beta's when I was running the benchmarks. So if they did do any changes with the new drivers, its barely noticeable if at all. Im just a bit surprised I got 20 more FPS!

There's a problem with all reboots. Whatever writer gets their hands on some rebooted series they start to think whatever they want. I think it's strange, I mean all that stuff about Lara's orientation. TR was always supposed to be about exploration and puzzles. Unfortunately the masses want gore and something else. TR needs to be more about adventures than Lara's personal life.

Been playing a bit. Game performance is perfect with these new drivers. Graphics look better or it might be placebo effect. But I remember seeing game update notes showing they fixed the whole issue with the graphics being better in windowed mode. I don't remember seeing the sun rays or lens flare like I do now.

One of my pet peeves is hexagonal vs circle lens flares that are splattered over the whole screen vs used selectively where they should be. You're right, there was a dramatic difference after the patch. There are tons of hex lens flares now, and the ones that are bloody are really annoying. Wish I could mod them out.

Just finished my 2nd playthrough last night, and spent an extra hour searching for the last 2 mines at the beach and sea

It's a shame, in my opinion. The island has loads of spaces left to be filled with temple complexes, tombs and things, all the area’s blocked off with thorny scrub could be pulled aside to open up new areas for Lara to explore, especially as a post game exploration thing.

The thing about Lara croft games is that every game before this one the story has always been the weakest point where the gameplay(this game is weaker on this vs the old ones) was the strong point(most times), this is a big change and thats what she wanted, to give Lara a more humanly, womanly feel and the series has always needed that(more addictive gameplay would have been nice though). She later says I didn't want to make a male character with boobs, I agree with that, the way they act towards each other its pretty easy to see Samantha as a man, so the entire gay angle is pretty easy to see. I think the way she set it up she can make her gay or straight later on.

Well thats the thing.

She goes on about how gamer are ready for it and then she herself doesnt even bother to bring her idea forward and then makes excuses for why she didnt. To me she basicly said a big studio needs to take the risk but the story might not be picked up due to x,y and z. So let someone else take the risk. Studios need the story thats why they hired her. doh!!!.

More of a pandering piece to say i'm okay and for it. She had ideas but is too scared to take the risk herself because it might cost her money. Until the enviroment isnt as such. Let someone else risk it. Thats what bothered me the most. I could care less what Lara Crofts sexual preferance is. I may like it, may not. Depends on how it all plays out. Let the market decide and thats what shes affraid of.

You should have read the directions for this BETA install. Installing the CAP killed it for you, CAPs are no longer required for multi-GPU.

It seems like I keep reading about Lara's boobs and potential nude code/glitches instead of the gameplay on a lot of sites(luckily not this one!). Why doesn't Crystal Dynamics just release a $5 or $8 Boob physics/ nude DLC to make these people happy. It's already an "M" rated game and they probably would make a crap ton of $$ from these youngsters and / or hermit gamers.

I wouldn't buy the DLC myself, but I sure would like to be on the boob physics "research and development" team if possible



Overall this is a good game, but not really like a classic Tomb Raider game. I like the fact that this game is a partial open sandbox type game. The graphics and controls are great, but the lack of swimming/sprinting and all of those button pressing sequences are a minus(the ones to hold on to ledges are ok though). The tombs are a huge minus to this game. Huge sprawling tombs are the norm for tomb raider, not 1-2 room ones with a simple puzzle and a treasure chest with the same CG animation of Lara when she opens up every chest. I'm not saying the puzzles have to be as hard as previous games, but the sizes of the tombs are just too small
Throw in way less human enemies, more animals, some more supernatural stuff, improve some of the graphics(such as the water and some other textures ) and the next Tomb Raider will be even better!

No CAP needed. I'm running 13.3 Beta for my XFIRE 7970's and all I can say is WOW!! Awesome game. I finished the game with a single 7970 and now starting over with XFIRE configuration. All settings maxed with TressFX on and 4x SSAA getting 85 FPS. Smiling from ear to ear.

Well my friend is having an issue with this game crashing is Toshiba laptop with a i7, GT540m, and like 6-8GB of memory. Says the system literally turns off completely. not just a black screen that goes unresponsive.
