Maybe in one scenario, in the other 99 it's a different story, apart from the fact they have the same gun don't they?

Ferd fires faster and moves faster, but can't tank well.

true but it needs to, it has half the armour, it's gun should not even pen the Maus front on, damn I have seen two IS7's flank a single Maus and it took them about 6 or 7 minutes to kill it, both IS7's were near death at the end also

To be honest, coming across an enemy ferdi on the battleground should cause most concern with the top gun, simply because it has decent pen and damage and therefore deserves respect but for most in a reasonably manouverable tank that can do more than 40km they are in the main just fodder :D As for Arty bait, one well aimed shot from a GW Panther says "goodbye". However they are nowhere near as vunerable to arty IMO as the IS3, they ammo rack 3 out of 5 times with well aimed arty.

I recall fronting up to an IS7 and Ferdi on my own in my T110E5 in open ground, I think the IS7 had either engine damage or driver dead as it was slow, to be fair I had around 1500HP, the IS7 had 900 and the ferdi 950, both hit me 4 times each frontal from about 300M, everyone bounced and I killed them both, penetrating every time..... now I am the first to admit, that was one of those battles that you will always remember and NEVER repeat lol.

Edit: if you cannot tell ..... I HATE TD's! :)

I haven't have the luxury to fight a Maus head on yet (and I am not going to do that any time soon), so I cannot tell much about it other than it has massive amounts of health and a reasonable gun.

As for getting circleshotted by fast tanks, there is a simple way to mitigate that too: grab a medium to support your ass, or join the lemmingtrain

Ferd + top gun is a refreshing change from Tiger II. Tiger II is a gentleman's tank, there is a lot of little things you need to do in order for you to be effective. With the Ferd however, well, you just need to aim and shoot.

Edit: Ferdi's top gun isn't the standard issue German laser gun, it gets inaccurate from 400m+. I could hit a scout at top speed with the Long 88 and the long 105 from 300+m, but it has not happened yet with this 128. Shell velocity a bit slower too. Otherwise good gun, I did 3 ~4k damage games just now

To be honest I play all of my heavy tanks exactly the same, the only difference really is whether or not I'm at the actual front or not. In cases where the Tiger II is the top tank for example (and the other tier 8s are not heavies), I 'lead the line', which I've done effectively recently at Westfield (twice, coming from either base), Live Oaks (once, coming from the northern base and the first one to reach the town), and Abbey (once, went through the 1/2 line). When there are other tier 8 heavies, or I'm with tier 9/10s, I obviously go as 'second line'.

I play my heavies differently. For example, it will be side scrape fest in churchills, lead the front with tiger p (when I am top tier), whereas I play Tiger H like a medium (avoid shots, flank). For Tiger II, because its armour is actually effective against misplaced shots (and none at all against well placed ones) I need to judge the skill of my opponent by their first or second shot, whether I can continue brawling or move back. Need to be pretty careful with taking shots with the Tiger II too, brawling against IS-3 is dangerous enough, bouncing a shot or two is usually fatal. In Tiger P, I can rely on my noobarmour to out damage an IS. Same goes to Churchill, just set it at an angle in a nice spot and watch the shots bounce or gets absorbed by modules. Another thing you need to do with Tiger II is the positioning, sometimes you need to go out there and take the shot for your ally but its not very possible with the other heavies I play.

This is why the Lorraine is so very frustrating, I actually lost 10K credits in this one, it really is almost impossible to cover costs without a premium account........

I actually sold some of my tanks already so that I have some credits after I bought the T110E4.

I'm loving the GW Panther, makes me quite a bit of money even in defeats (yes even after dying and thus having to repair). There was even one game with tier 10s that even though we lost, I did enough damage to cover both the repairs AND the two premium HEAT shells I used (did 1267 damage on a T34, did 1058 damage on an E-75 with those two shells lol). Did around 4k damage in total iirc.

And yes, I had no premium since January.

Playing AMX 13 75, its not that bad of a tank as what others claim. A bit useless in the first few minutes, but once the ranks thin it becomes super fun to play. The problem is that if your team suicides too much you will not be able to do much to the eventual defeat.

Most of the fast Frenchies are like that, takes a while to adapt to get the best out of them, if they can survive by ducking and diving here and there and letting off the odd round or two then they can be devastating, the Lorraine has less than paper thin armour so with 1550HP @ tier 9 you have to be real careful, never feel you have to hit a target more than once otherwise you leave yourself vulnerable, if I do get the chance to unload a few..... well this 100mm six shot is simply awesome with 239mm pen and 300 - 400 damage a shot.

So bought and played a KV-1 a bit.

I'm not sure about it, I do have good games with it, mostly when I'm top tier, but when I end up in tier 6 or 7 games, I have no idea what to do, and end up being useless most of the time.

If you are a slow and fat heavy in high tier games, try to grab a higher tier buddy and support him. Start loading HE rounds if you have little chance of penetrating (especially with Russian tanks, they cant really hit weakspots well). Try not to go to exposed sides, and never venture into an unsupported flank (this is true for KV-1 even when playing as highest tier). If you must, stay back and defend but only as a last resort (eg when they leave a flank completely undefended). Otherwise push with team or support a lightly defended front.

Onto that. Which gun would you suggest for the KV-1. I'm currently on the 57mm.

None of the guns for the KV-1 are good against high tiers. The 85mm is barely enough in terms of penetration. You could try getting the 122mm and use HE instead...

So I just tried the Useless-11, and it's so bad I can't believe it. Derp guns might work with flankers, or the 152 on the KV-2. But on a KV-1, it really isn't good in any way.

No it just don't do enuff damage to be effective in my experience, only any real good in mopping up, it takes you so long to get to the front though to mop up it's already done..... or your dead! :)

Think I might sell the Lorraine this weekend, it's just too hit and miss without a premium account, I enjoy playing it but at tier 9/10 I like tanks that put the fear of god into some of the enemy, the Lorraine can do that but not when you have a platoon in front of you, think I will revert back the the trusty M103, I have researched the IS8 but I don't like the thought of paper thin side/rear armour, I have even taken out an IS8 from full health to death in my Lorraine in one can of six rounds whilst only taking one hit from the IS8, if a Lorraine can do that to an IS8 i just don't think it's the tank for me!
