P8Z77-V pro BSOD when installing 2nd 8gb stick

As the title mentions, I got when I install the 2nd stick of my 16gb kit (patriot viper mamba black) the system becomes quite unstable. Prior to installing windows, it wouldn't pass the initial BIOS screen and after completing Windows install (with only 1 stick) I put the 2nd in and it would load windows then crash.
I read that the board is capable of 16gb, did I buy the wrong memory, or get a bad stick?

more details please. what are the frequency of the ram etc.

i dont think q6600 can do more than 1333MHz.
also make sure your memory is compatible with the motherboard(look at the manual)

tried change the blocks around or the other dimms? not like A1-B1 but A2-B2?

do u use XMP profile in bios? if yes and that don't work try putting up the voltage to 1.65v if that don't help and it does it in all the dimms then it may be a bad board or mem controller in the cpu.

I apologize for some miscommunication. The problem I'm have is for a new computer I'm building. i7 3770K, p8Z77V-pro, patriot viper 2x8gb pn a Win7 64 install

Did you try each Module separately in each slot?

And i presume you are using this kit? Patriot Viper 'Black Mamba' 2133mhz Gen 3 16GB

If you have the second Module installed go to your Bios and check the timings and speed setting maybe your board isn´t reading the XMp profile correctly

No, I'm using the 1600 kit, it was on sale at the time lol. But I'll try those and get back, Thanks

Got both sticks to work. I just swapped B1 into A1 and A1 into B1. Hasn't crashed yet lol. Thanks
