So last night I delidded my 3770k, and want to get some of this wonderful Coollaboratory TIM. When looking on frozenCPU, I noticed they have a PRO and Ultra spec of their TIM. Curious what TPU has used, and whether or not the Ultra is worth the extra $1.50 over the Pro. Thanks!

I've heard one of them worked better than the other when delidding these things, but I don't recall which one for sure. So, yes. One of them is better.

Dude, buy both, do some tests, take pics, and post and here and let everyone know!

;)

I think it's that Pro is Better than Ultra(even though the naming would indicate otherwise. I seem to recall something about that). But I could be mistaken.

I heard that ultra spreads quite a bit easier, and its what a lot of people prefer for delids over the Pro version. Atleast coming from people in the Delidding club at OCN.

They also do Ultra between the die and IHS, and then between the IHS and cooler they use pro, but you don't have to do it like that.

So got my coollabs ultra today, had a question, figure I'd see what tpu says. My backup rig is a 2500k with the stock cooler from my 3770k on it, now the packaging for the ultra says it's not friendly with as aluminium, so if I were to apply the coollabs just to the copper core of the heatsink, would I be safe from it eating away at the rest of the heatsink since that's made of aluminium? Thanks!

Ultra is what a guy over at Anandtech forums recommends based on his extensive experiments. I am getting one soon, too.
