My EVGA 660 Ti just recently started freezing for a micro-second when playing Dirt Showdown, no more than 4 or 5 times during a 3 minute round, and after the first round it usually runs fine, with only the occasional blip. GPU is at stock clocks, 3570K is at 4.5 GHz@1.25v, and no major changes were made before the problem started (I did recently OC to 4.6 GHz, but the problem started several days after, and it's now 4.5). So far I tried updating to 320.00 driver (no change, was running 314.22 since release with no problems). Then I restored my system with an image from 10 days ago (no change). My GPU temps are 55-60c when playing DS, CPU load is 25-40%@50c. Does anyone know what causes this, is it a sign of bad solder joints or what? It seems to go away after the card warms up.

Check your system RAM using memtest. Try a different PSU if possible. Try running stability tests on everything else.

Seems Okay Now

Check your system RAM using memtest. Try a different PSU if possible. Try running stability tests on everything else.

It passed all the memory & stability tests, so I opened it up, checked all connections, and pulled the video card - everything looked good, so I cleaned the PCIe contacts (and all fans & filters) and re-seated the card. So far, no freezes! Maybe my 300w subwoofer shook it loose or something, and re-seating it was the fix. Thanks erocker for taking the time to reply.

It was my understanding that Nvidia had software that will buffer frame rates to a desired FPS. try forcing your card to a maximum frame rate

try returning your system to stock clock rates.
