Man, only posted once before and that was back in 2008...sheesh...

Anyways, looking at a new build as I still have my trusty E8400 Core2Duo.

I already have hard drives to re-use, SSD for Windows and a raptor for data.

Was debating a case for ages, had in mind the Corsair 300R, then realised this one had more to offer and looks different!
Additional fans: extra front intake and extra top exhaust.

Did consider a water cooler, but not planning on overclocking, even if I did it won't be a huge overclock.

Anyways, won't be until August as it's a treat for my 30th off the wife, so just want to be 100% sure about the build first.

You could probably change the soundcard to something else, but to what I am not too sure.

I personally dont like creative, much prefer the Asus Xonar series, but each to their own I guess.

I did think that about the creative card, have read not so much 'bad things' but negative comments with their newer cards.

May swap that out for the Asus Xonar DS 7.1 PCI Sound Card, slightly cheaper as well.

The 770 cards just push me on my budget (£1000) already gone a bit above it ;)

the mother board you picked has a really good sound card and apart from that the same as any other ASUS board so you could save a little money on the MB and get the GTX770 or a HD 7970

I actually like the Xonars very much too, but I wanted to let OP know I have heard only good things about the Creative Z soundcard. It seems they got it right this time. I'm about to pick one up myself. Great build plans, btw!

That's a nice build, though the PSU is seriously overkill, even for two 770s.

Very true, but I wanted a complete modular system, and they didn't have any lower watt ones that were. :ohwell:

But what's the point of modularizing things like the 24 pin motherboard plug you know you'll need? ;) Nice build though!

overkill is the best kind, i got a Kw powering nothing, apart from a powerhungry Fx chip lol

overkill means peace of mind, room for improvements and bigger is better lol

nice build btw, glad you saw sense with the 770
