The game can get pretty competitive and its a matter of how serious you, your team and your commander are.
Indeed, he is right. I have trouble playing ns2 anymore unless I am with the right set of people. I don't care if I am losing but ns2 is a team game and must be played as such. Much more fun that way too. To get as good as the pros takes hundreds of hours though. They all have 1000+ game hours. I myself am only at 450.
