Hey guys. I am formating and installing Win 7 on my first SSD, in a new system I bought. Are there any special steps I need to take before formating the disk via the Win 7 DVD and installing Win 7 on it?

I will be keeping it as 1 partition, where I will be installing Windows on it together with any other programs (games mostly).

Nothing particularly special before you install. The only thing I can recommend is setting the BIOS to RAID on the SATA options.

Once you do have it installed disable defragmentation on the SSD. Windows 7 sets this automatically, so you'll have to disable it.

Everything else is pretty much taken care of.

I only have 1 SATA. So not sure why I would set RAID, but AHCI instead as Jetster mentioned?

As for TRIM, or other SSD specific options, are those automatically set?
