If these benchs are legit then the r9 290x has a problem because it's running almost 200mhz faster than the gtx 780/titan so when all the cards get iced the gtx 780/titan will win.
I love the new heatsink shroud it's itmuch more industrial looking than the gtx titan cooler

780gtx/titan both boost to ~1ghz(993mhz) out of the box.
what I dont like is they have gone for very low speed gddr and wide bus instead of fast ram and narrower bus... and that just to have 4gb instead of 3 or 6 if it was 384 bit with 6/7ghz gddr5.

I want one, sans leaf blower and perhaps with >6 phase power delivery, though AMD usually uses nice components.

You are probably looking for custom card. GK110, especially Titan is held back by its 6 phases for overclocker. I see good things would happen when this is paired with Lightning or Matrix :)
I would say that the 512bit interface and 4 GB memory would benefit from games that uses FSAA or crazily high AA.

So a year after nVidia released GK110 AMD finally has something to top it and it only managed 2.5 Frames better!

AMD only managed to best nvidia by 2 FPS in a freakin' year!

How pathetic.

If nvidia doesn't totally stomp AMD this round there is something wrong with nvidia.

If this is true the R 290X will be released at $599. Be more powerful then the Titan and consume less power on a smaller die-size

I'm honestly more interested Maxwell and what AMD will do in response. This AMD card looks pretty cool if this information is even partially true. I look at this and simply think, "Maxwell is coming."

Well, Nvidia won't have 20nm, either. So, I'm guessing a tiny refresh, as well.

It shouldn't be a refresh. Maxwell is suppose to be a new architecture like Kepler was to Fermi.

Then nvidia will have to delay. So Q1 is sounding like a bust unless they pull another paper launch trickle trick like last time.

I imagine AMD will refresh on 20 when volume is up. Hopefully, that means higher clocks and new cards with more transistors :)

This round is the 700 series. Nvidia released first.

That isn't nvidia's next round, that is just them finally releasing a year old GPU to the consumer market.

And Nvidia took like half a year or so to release their kepler 6 series cards, which were barely better then AMDs Tahiti.

Kepler came out 3 months after Tahiti, that isn't half a year.

And it was so good the mid-range GPU outperformed AMD's top Tahiti.

Kepler was so far ahead that nvidia had no need to release their high end GPU and just sat on it for a year or more.

The sad thing is that this looks like it might be AMD's best shot and it barely beats Titan.

That means that all nvidia might have to do is a slight clock speed bump with maybe a slightly better reference design with a stronger power setup and they'll easily be able to continue to compete.

Of course they'll finally have to lower the price on titan to something reasonable too.

But then they'll just release whatever they've been working on for the past year or more and charge $1000 or that because AMD won't have anything to compete with it.

Both companies have designs that go well into the future. AMD already has 20nm lined up for GPU's. They'll go back and forth, back and forth like they usually do. It's good for business for both companies. They know this.

I doubt that the blower/shroud seen would be the final design. The board is obviously a development and validation part. You can see the jumpers just aft of the chokes, and the shroud looks fairly basic- more reminiscent of a FirePro shroud than Radeon

According to the original source, the 290X being benched was running at it's maximum stable clock of 1020/5000. While the production parts will undoubtedly overclock higher, it also tends to suggest that the card at 1020 core is overclocked past reference speed.

Well.. the sticker does say "Radeon" and not "FirePro". I can't really say that it looks like an engineering sample either because then it would most likely not have a sticker on it. Who knows.. three days to go.
