You dont need to upgrade your system is fine.

The only things id update is your motherboard and case and maybe the cpu cooler. Otherwise its a good system.

What do you use your pc for? Gaming?
I would say that you should stay with what you have, unless you just have an itch to build a new rig:)

yeah, i would say its an "itch" lol. I do mostly gaming and watching movies. I have 3 screens hooked up to my computer also, but each screen is running seperately at their own resolution. I mainly just want to know if the setup i selected to buy is good or if there can be some improvements like if i should go with a 4670k or a 3570k.

I really just want to know what would be the best way to go in terms of which cpu and motherboard to get to match or get more performance than my i7 2600.

You sort of need an i7 for that. And if you want a K it's 4770k or nothing. The i5 generally have better single threaded performance in games, but we're talking a few FPS.

In short, there is no point in it. Overclock that CPU of yours isntead.

I have the non K version of the i7 2600 and I have a Dell computer and everything is locked so I cant overclock anything

Just hit edit to add more to your post not double post. If you buying a new board and CPU get a Z87 and a i5 4670K or i7 4770K and you will be good even with a Cm 212. Unless you get a really good deal on a Ive Bridge

The 4670K will out proform it when its overclocked. At least in gaming it will. In video encoding the 2600 may have a slight edge. The PCI-e 3.0 does not come into play with one card

I know its a tough choise. But the other part of the issues is the H67 "Dell" chipset. Its also holding that 2600 back. Hand down IMHO I would choose the Z87 i5K over a H67 i7 any day of the week

How is that chipset on that motherboard holding the CPU back?

I mean it doesn't make any sort of sense. It might lack features, but it should not hold the CPU back at all.

I understand your being sceptical i would be also, All I can say is I had a H67 board and i5 2500K and swaped the CPU to a Z77 and gained about 10% in proformance with the same chip on benchmarks at the same clocks. Not to mention his H67 was manufactured for Dell by the lowest bider

Why? I mean it shouldn't work like that. Unless there are some turbo features that works differently on different chipsets.

If you want to really feel the difference when you upgrade, here's what I recommend;
1. i5-4670K, overclocked to at least 4.3 GHz
2. Asus or Gigabyte Z87 motherboard, at least Z87-Pro or GA-Z87X-UD4H
3. 2 x 8Gb RAM DDR3 2133 MHz, any name brand with decent timings
4. H80i or H100i liquid CPU cooler (depending on the case you select).
5. Any ~$100 case you prefer, as long as it has good airflow (at least 3 120mm fans).
6. Any recent vintage SSD, at least 120GB, but 240/256 models are faster (fastest are Samsung 840 Pro, Corsair Neutron GTX, Sandisk Extreme II).
You'll get the biggest boost from the overclock and the SSD, but the fast RAM, haswell CPU, and decent motherboard will also help. It won't be cheap, but you wanted to know, so there it is. You can of course trim some $ off in any of these categories by shopping for combo deals or settling for lower specs. Keep in mind that even with all the above upgrades, it may not be the mind-blowing experience you imagine. It should, however, run everything 20 to 30% faster and cut load times in half or better.

that sounds good but im gonna stick with the MSI G45, only get 8gb of 2133, and get a 120gb corsair neutron gtx along with a corsair 300R case. does that sound good?

I would personally recommend 2xxGb worth of SSD, 120Gb is too restrictive and some SSDs (not sure which) slows down as you fill them up. No problem with the rest.

I was only planning on putting my OS system on it and one or 2 games and thats about it.
