How to underclock a HD 7970

I'm trying to find out how to underclock memory my 7970 to reduce temps when Bitcoin mining. I tried AB with no luck. Could some please help.

Which mining software are you using? Many miners support controlling the card directly through their interface. I found BFGMiner to be very effective, and you can set both forced/manual clocks, fan, voltages, or set a range for autotuning based on GPU temps...
