I know this is an overclocking event and as such 'prestige' level skills but MSI really cocked up their consumer 780 Lightning this time. I know several people that returned them because of very poor over volting ability. EVGA offer unofficial 'safe' over volting software for their Classified - MSI to my knowledge offer nothing to help get past 1.2 volts which is joke considering how beefed up the VRM circuitry is.

Boo to MSI this round.

They'll no doubts be running MSI sanctioned BIOS revisions just for the event. Maybe from this event, some nice master overclocker will release a BIOS into the wild so normal folksies can actually run the Lightning the way it was meant to be run.
