Selling my Titan for crossfire r9 290x ?

Hey guys, is this a good choice? And how much is a titan worth, still has 16 months warranty left. Is 400$ fair, or is it worth more?

I think your selling yourself a little short. If I had the money, I'd pay $400 for a Titan in a heartbeat. Honestly, I think you could get $500 for a Titan and still be giving someone a great deal. Personally, I'd look into buying another Titan when prices are dropped and SLI them.

It's a good choice if you need higher performance, if not I don't see any reason why. Your Titan can last you a very long time.

Just because it retails for $1000, doesn't mean it's worth that, especially now that the $550 290x is available. The Titan should now be priced no higher than $650 new, $500 used IMHO(but that doesn't mean it will happen either).

Exactly.. I would price it around where it performs honestly. I bet those will sell quick for $650+...

But if you want to sell them for $400, I will buy them off you. Seriously.

The awful noise those 290s make and the thermal throttling aren't worth it. Besides, AMD's CrossFire is still broken so no, don't sell it. Get another one when the price goes down instead.

These will support the awesome new G-Sync technology when it's released, too.

Crossfire is "broken", assuming you are talking microstutter, only with CFx and multi monitor configs. The issue was resolved or mitigated considerably months ago on single monitors.

Agreed with you... I said it's worth more than $500, never said $1000, learn to read man!

eBay auctions are hitting $800-$900 (pre 290x launch). My guess if listed for $750, it'd sell in a day. Have to check through the weekend to what Titan auctions are hitting days after the 290x launch... only time will tell.

From what I understand, the problem is only "much reduced" with single monitors when using a beta driver, I think that's right? I'd only consider a WHQL driver to be good enough after all this time. The news broke way back in April, after all.

Also, it's still broken with multimonitor as you say, but it works properly when using nvidia.

The card still costs a hefty $550 and for that price I'd expect it to work perfectly (or damned nearly so) not have niggles here and there.

Still, I hope that it's enough to force nvidia to lower it's prices as it is and that we see some great non-reference designs come along that do away with the noise and cooling problem. That will really make nvidia sit up and notice!

290x doesnt require bridge... connected thru pci slots.... and your 2nd slot is Titan...

Sell the Titan GPU now before they dump even more and get a 290x and play.

5- 8 months down the road:
Sell the 290x to get money towards the next generation.

I sold 3 of my 8 R7950s the 8pin 6pin design for 555.00 on eBay a few weeks ago to help pay for 2x 290x GPUs.

I even ended up with 2x 7970 lightnings after the MSI techs upgraded my 7950s during a jacked up RMA experience.

Didnt try throwing them under a school bus or creating a new habitat for your goldfish at the bottom of your fishpond or goldfish tank did you? to RMA BOTH cards at the same time while not unheard of is still a little extreme (unless a bad PSU blew up and killed both of them at the same time)

I used to run 5 R7950s 24/7 in my mining rig & 3 in my gaming rig. One of the fans on each GPU stopped spining up.

MSI sent me 2 replacement 7950s and both had bad HDMI ports. Plus they had different SKUs than my original board. Another fail for MSI, crappy fans and bad HDMI ports but decent RMA support.
