FrozenSand, LCC are proud to release Urban Terror, 4.0.

The game isn't exactly new, but it has been revamped to be just one of the best games in terms of game play. It's for that same reason that many players been hooked on it for over 5 years running. Other games like Half Life 2, Quake 4, Doom 3 are incredible games in terms of graphics, but often disappoint from a game play point of view. Now the new Urban Terror looks better than before and plays even better than before!

This game is based on the good old Quake 3 engine so if you still have a copy of that then your set! If you don't, not to worry! There is a standalone version of the game, as well!

Other new features are:

  • All new player models, skins and animations.
  • New hit detection system
  • 20+ updated levels of terror
  • 8 new Urban Terror levels
  • Addition of statistics to the UI.
  • Updated user interface
  • "funstuff" to personalize your character
  • New features: Power sliding, goomba stomp and hot potato

Can't hurt to check it out at http://www.urbanterror.net.

UrT is great, its like CS with a mix of RO and Quake...nice mod, finally i can take a break from ET.

I was suprized that even though load the page for the DL took a couple of minutes and many reloads, that the DL itself took so little time @ 750-800kbs...

^^^refer to this...

if you are going for Standalone, you will be able to play on non-secure and Battle eye servers. Battle eye is similar to punkbuster. No if you are going for the upgrade, the you can play on non-secure and punkbuster servers. Sooner or later people will perfer the standalone, due to its extra features such as download client side contect..etc.

The higher detail on the textures is nice, the new hit detection seems great.

I don't like what they did to T-pike ~ they took away all the cool spots you could go to and the hiding places. Sad.

Need maps with better/darker hiding places where you can actually hide, without having to make the map too large/mazelike.

Since you can play for FREE with the stand alone, I hope it becomes more popular than ever. I've tried a lot of other FPS games and none are as fun as UrT once the novelty of trying a new game wears off.

If you never heard about this game before...

a) your young
b) your got in to gaming late
c) you havent watch TechTV's ScreenSavers back in the good old days of Leo Laporte & Patrick Norton, for they used to have public servers parties every friday. (it was UrT, or WolfET, or 1942)

wat does better gameplay mean

its obviosly not better graphics, is it better features or functions or does it mean the game does everything u need or does it mean better layout like health meter is in the correct position of the screen, wat does it mean exactly

Definition of gameplay

Better gameplay means that when you play the game you're having fun playing the game as it's meant to be played instead of fighting with it or haveing stuff happen that makes no sense or is just stupid. Gameplay means you don't getting bored with it after 2 weeks cuz the only thing the game has is pretty graphics. Gameplay is substance.

Of course, to each his own, but my favourite type of gameplay is what Urt 4.0 proposes.

ive been playing it for bout 3 days now, doesnt seem any better than a 06/07 online game like fear/quak4/cs

CS has the most features in my opioning like u can browse servers and talk to friends while connected to a server which u cant do on this urband terror, but cs is boring, i like HL2 deathmatch more

HL2 Deathmatch is about the only other FPS game that I've enjoyed playing more than a few times since I tried Urban Terror. Other games look neat for a while but aren't that much fun for long. Urban Terror is the one I keep playing year after year because it's fun.

The gameplay is what's really good, once you have played enough to be good.

I would guess that one problem with is is that most players have played so long that it must seem hard for new players joining a server.

I kind of liked the free Fear multiplayer game, but I've only tried it a couple times so far. The fear maps have the sense of being really big and I like that you don't feel like you're constantly being shot at every time you start. I like to run around and hide, and be sneaky, before I encounter an opponent.

Oh, and there are various voice chat programs that people use with Urban Terror and a few good game browsers like All Seeing Eye (ASE) which work with Urban Terror (and most other FPS multiplayer games too). I think most of the players do use the voice chat when they play.
