You could always install Windows via USB stick using YUMI or other alternative methods.

really? boot from optical drive is basic feature.
you must set 1st boot is from dvd/cd drive through bios so the mainboard could start from dvd/cd drive

i will, obviously, set cdrom as 1st boot drive and see if it works. but an assuring word from a gd65 user would have been nice :(

yes - booting off of various devices should be just fine - you just need to remember to set it in boot options correctly ( pick cd-rom not eufi cd-rom). I would suggest as well to install from USB ( makes things so much easier and less cluttered

just go into the bios, make it boot from dvd. Slip in the dvd and boot, it should work.
it would still work even if u didnt change the boot order, i have a msi g45 gaming and it worked just fine. gd65 and g45 have the same bios

Seeing as 90% of this world buy or recieve windows on a dvd it would be a very stupid idea for MSI not to allow to boot from cd/dvd.

I have a feeling the reviewer had a faulty dvd drive and this is why they say you cant boot from disk.
