Hi, I delidded my cpu but accidentally slipped due to someone talking to me mid-operation. I'm wondering if this damage is severe? I've looked at it with a magnifying glass even more zoomed in then these pics, and the scratch to the left with the traces still seem to be there, just exposed. The scratch on the right seems to just be blank pcb with no traces. I've put it in, and tested it. No anomalies. Haven't overclocked yet though. Will do so tonight with an h220. Lastly, what area do those traces lead to anyways? IF there is damage, what kind is it?

well prime95 it for a good 24 hours to test it. and somehow protect the traces from being shorted.

that may eventually become a problem especially if those traces reflow and cause a short out especially at OC temperatures. definitely stay closer to the IHS and not the PCB of the chip.

For a proper and quick delid, Hammer and vice FTW!!! :toast:

Sorry about the mishap but I hope it all works and continues to run fine. Keep us informed if anything happens.

I wonder if there's anything you could lightly apply over those bad areas

communication grade silicon sealant or electronic grade silicon sealant

by the way there will be some form of resistance since those traces are damaged a littlebit, you can run the chip but id seriously keep an eye on stats of it, idle, load, Stock, Overclocked.

Or nail polish. Works like a charm!

What everyone else said :) Worst things that may have happened:
  • You cut a trace
  • You shorted a trace to another
Where they lead? You'd have to ask some elusive Intel engineer.
