The surface makes a difference. I have an aluminium mat, which has a speed(smooth) and control(rough) side, the aim being one side for RTS, one side for FPS. I recommend a glass mouse mat, I've used one of those from steelseries and they are GLORIOUS!

Any mouse should work on any mousemat. Most mats are good, surface type is personal choice.

I just bought a dirt cheap A4tech x7-200MP and it's nice. It's a small mat by gaming standards, textile on one side, rubber for grip on the table the other side.
The larger model goes by the name 300MP. If you can find one you can't go wrong for an entry level cheap mat.

i have a massive one, speed surface and it fills my desk.

only difference i have noticed in the pqast from speed ones to control ones is the control ones wear the feet of the mice down quicker tbh.

I wouldn't normally drop that kind of money on a pad. I just had $14 burning a hole in my pocket. really I'm happy with a cutting board

I found I prefer the hard mouse pads, and the plastic ones seem easier on the feet than the metal ones. I use the "SteelSeries 4HD Gaming Pad"

I have had a Razer golliathus/some steelseries and multiple cheap, generic mouse mats and can say that in terms of experience, they don't really differ. I think it's most personal opinion and If I where you, I would buy one that suits the aesthetics of your pc/setup.

>Split $14 into 1 dollar bills

>made mouse mat for $14

Func Surface 1030 is my favorite by a mile; low profile, dual sided for preference of tracking feel, cord clip, easy to clean, never feels cold like metal or glass mats, and durable (I have had my 1030 original for over ten years of hard gaming)

usually mouse pad last long, except paper mouse pad
i have 3 mouse pad, standard one, medium from ozone and xl from generic brand and ozone and the xl just used twice before they back to its box
i prefer sleek surface, its more comfortable for me. rubber base is ok especially when you gaming so your pad wont go anywhere how fast you move the mouse

I have a Razer Goliathus and my Mamba stopped working on it lol. I have a custom made "Jaws" pad from like eBay and it works well enough. I had a cheap "Discover" credit card pad from my friend's bank and I hated it.

But all in all, my mouse pad is my IKEA table, wherever I want to go with it :D
