Are you upgrading the whole computer or just the video card?

The whole computer, this is what my plans were, http://pcpartpicker.com/user/newfielander/saved/3yj8, other than the fact I may want a different less expensive card that will fit my needs and also was planning on keeping my cooling system that's already installed if there is a way I can check and see if I can top up my cooling liquid if need be.

IMHO, for your use, you want that expensive card. There is a big difference between the GTX 780 and GTX 770. If you really want to save some money, drop your CPU down to a 4670k instead of dropping the video card to a lesser model card.

BTW, also, like I believe I mentioned earlier, your not going to be able to use a socket 775 cpu waterblock on a socket 1150 motherboard. The mounting holes on the motherboards are spaced differently.

mind showing me where you found a adapter kit? I looked on the Corsair web site though all the cooling products and cooling accessories and didn't see anything mentioning socket 775 compatibility.

If you would watch this clip you will see the guy purchased the bracket and back plate to make it fit, please correct me if I'm wrong, it talks about it at 10:47 of the video.

I bought a mounting bracket from corsair for a generic asetek cooler I got from a friend's cyberpowerpc, it worked fine, but I don't know if that will work for you. Heres a link. It looks similar to his liquid cooler. If your cooler looks like a "Corsair H50" in that it has the circular shape with the tabs on the sides, then it will probably work for you. Any 1155 cooler will fit 1150 as well, so if you see a cooler that interests you and its 1155, its okay. 2011 coolers won't work unless it also has a 1155/50 mounting system included.

http://www.corsair.com/cwch50-brktkit.html

To summarize, everything in your case from HP should be ATX. Thats a standardized form factor. So pick out some parts using pcpartpicker and then use the HP 002 Case and assemble it inside that just as if you had bought a new computer case. Its no different from any other build, except you are using a really awesome case!

Heres what I would recommend:
1) 4770 or 4770K (which is socket 1150) K series is unlocked for overclocking but you probably won't need to overclock so the extra VM features on the non k might be worthwhile, it depends... This is the latest highest performance intel cpu for the consumer market, you won't be disappointed.
2) A z87 motherboard (the performance socket 1150 motherboard) Asus or Gigabyte or MSI, or whatever your personal preference is here.
3) A Nvidia Geforce 780/770/680 or AMD Radeon 7950, 7970, R9 280, R9 290, or R9 290x. Buy whatever is cheapest of these cards, you will probably be happy with it! AMD and Geforce both have good driver support now and you can't go wrong with either. Bitcoin has made AMD more expensive right now so you may want to go with Nvidia. Geforce 770 and 680 are the same thing, but the 770 is updated with a bit more performance. Radeon 7970 and R9 280x are the same thing, similar to the 680 and 770. 680 and 7970 are similar in performance so that gives you some idea of what modern GPU's are like in the market positioning. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/R9_290/20.html Heres a review showing a bunch of these graphic cards and how they rank up to each other. Hope you aren't confused by all the numbers in these brands, but just read that review, look at some of the charts, draw the conclusions you need.
4) 16 GB of DDR 3 Ram, you want a 2x8 GB kit with 1.5v or less DRAM voltage and 1600 speed or greater.
5) new powersupply: get a Seasonic Gold, 600 watts should be about perfect for a single graphics card, a few harddrives, etc. 800 to 1000 watts would be good if you run two graphics cards or a ton of harddrives and fans and other junk. 600 watts is probably the way to go. I'd buy a fully modular PSU, this will make building it easier, since the wiring will be more manageable.
6) A new CPU cooler. I'd get a H80i closed loop water cooler from corsair or a Phanteks PHTC 12DX air cooler. Depends on if you want to run water or air. Its not a whole lot different really at those price ranges so Its your call.
7) An SSD for booting, 240 GB is a good size range
8) Try 1 or 2 TB Western Digital Caviar Black harddrives.

If you like these ideas, send me a pm and I'll put together a pc part picker for you or something. I don't think anyone would disagree with these ideas, its pretty much the standard for a high end computer at the moment.

Buy an H80I instead of the H100I, its easier to install because you only need a 120mm fan hole to mount it to, instead of a radiator mount. Otherwise it looks fine! Get a new power supply! Heres an example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151118

@Vario , the OP wants to reuse the AIO liquid cooling that came with the Blackbird. Why he has a H100 in his part list, I don't know.

@newfielander , from that video, it does appear that you can use Corsair's mounting kit for the H50/H60/H70 AIO coolers with your AIO cooler.

That corsair mounting kit won't fit an i model. I have that kit on an asetek 120mm AIO cooler. It works fine. it works on all the Asetek coolers that are circular with the tabs on them. I would recommend the OP just get a Coolermaster 212 or something since it probably performs the same.

it's not going on a Corsair I model, it's going on the AIO cooling unit that originally came with the Blackbird. Watch the video between the 10-12 minute mark and you'll understand what the OP wants to do.

Barbaric Soul I do want to use my cooling system that's install, but it was included in my part list because that's what was picked for me,and just in case I can't use the one that's install I was planing on using that one.

Barbaric I did watch it and I did the same thing the guy in the video did, it worked fine for me. He picked out an h100i because he says it looks similar to the 002's stock cooler but I know thats impossible because they didn't sell that design at that time. I was telling him that mounting system won't fit an i incase his 002 does in fact have an i shaped cooler.

If I'm right and its just a generic asetek style cooler, the h50 kit will work fine to get his stock cooling system working with a modern motherboard.

I would recommend a 760 or 770 Nvidia card. It will help with processing along side the cpu.

if he gets his stock cooling working, which everything is point to it will, he won't need the h100i. So your point about it not fitting on the h100i is irrelevant. The OP wasn't getting the mounting bracket for the h100i.

I would recommend a 760 or 770 Nvidia card. It will help with processing along side the cpu.

Please take the time to read the whole thread before making suggestions. The OP is looking at a GTX 780 which is much better than a 770 or 760.

Barb, he sent me a pm saying he thought he had an h100i in the case. then he sent me a photo of it per my request and it is indeed not an h100i but the older asetek circle with tab on the side design just like an h50 (or an h100). That was merely my comment's intent. I didn't have the photo until just now. It looks just like a 240mm radiator Asetek from the 2007-2011 era. All you need is that corsair h50 bracket I linked a few posts up. I did this with a 120mm older Asetek a few months ago for my itx system.

here is his photo:

It looks just like an h50 mounting system and the corsair link here will work fine: http://www.corsair.com/cwch50-brktkit.html

Hope the OP doesn't mind my posting it here. Frankly I would buy that kit and then use that system, it looks badass!

That was merely my comment's intent. I didn't have the photo until just now. It looks just like a 240mm radiator Asetek from 2010 era.

No problem!

Only issue I see is if the pump suddenly died because of age. Given that the modern ones seem to either work or fail in the first few months, if its made it this long I'd assume it will keep working lol.

If you remove the back panel of the case, do you have a hole (in the metal of the case's motherboard tray) behind the CPU socket?

When you remove the motherboard, you might want to cut a hole there if there isn't one because that would allow you easy access to the CPU cooler's mounting system, using a rotary tool. I did this with my Cosmos, which is from the same time period.

edit: disregard, below photo shows theres a hole.

Don't buy an h100 or h100i to replace your old system. It wont mount to that shape! Fortunately you have a cut out in the motherboard so you can easily mount a cooler with the motherboard installed in the case.

I'd recommend just buying the h50 adapter and if the system fails, going with a air cooler like a Coolermaster 212 or better.

Please take the time to read the whole thread before making suggestions. The OP is looking at a GTX 780 which is much better than a 770 or 760.

I have not seen any place in this thread where the OP is asking for a 780 GPU, I have however seen you recommending it. You see I don't recommend it as a 770 will work just as well for his objective. Thanks for the feedback though. o_O:lovetpu:

I highly doubt that Corel Video Studio ProX6 will use any more of the cuda on a 780 than a 770 or even a 760. It will probably add at the most 15% increase in cuda help no matter wich of the 3 cards he ends up using.

here is a quote about replacing the back plate to a X58 found the post at http://h20435.www2.hp.com/t5/The-Ne...002-upgrade-for-lt-1k/ba-p/58060#.UubFPGQo6Uk

I did the same thing with my blackbird 002. I had the asus maximus formula and a qx9650 3.0 ghz extreme. Replaced it with the exact same gigabyte mobo and 930 cpu. I used the stock asetek oem liquid cooler, however the lga 775 backplate and ring will not fit the 1366 mobo, so, I bought a corsair h50, pulled the 1366 backplate and ring off the h50 and the stock asetek cooler fit right in. Also, the asetek parts on the asus mobo fit the h50 block. However, I'm looking to buy a new radiatior and block to replace the old one as it is going on 3 years now and I'm sure the glycol level is low. I've been checking temps and it creeps ever so slowly up every couple of months due to evaporation I'm assuming. Anyone know where you can buy the stock oem asetek lclc cooler they made for the blackbird? I contacted asetek direct and of course they said contact hp who of course has no idea what this part is.
Also, for this rig, using corsair dominator ddr3 1600mhz ram, 6gb in 3x2gb sticks. A Corsair F60 SSD, A WD Caviar Black 1TB 32mb cache hard drive for all my crapware, and a plextor 940 bluray burner with the stock tsst slim line dvd drives in their as well that no firmware seems to be available for..........oh well."

So I'd say either Astek or Corsair replacement part for X79 / 2011 should do you. (Backplate and Ring)

.

My fault, I could have swore the OP had a 780 in his build on the beginning of this page. I apologise
