What is your intended use for the system? $900 can build a system but it depends on what you want it to do.

Hi, and welcome to TPU! Yes, it's very possible to build with $900!

Now, what is the pupose of your build? What do you intend to use it for? Have you identified any parts at all you are onterested in?

Ok, got a friend that knows how to build a system? Also do you need a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and OS as well as the tower?

Hey, i noticed you said you want to make a gaming pc. It is of course possible with $900 but you will have to cut back on certain components like power supply and hard drive. If possible get a 600W power supply and also save on the case. You can get a decent case for about $80. You should focus on spending most of it on the CPU and Graphics Card. Dont go all out on a motherboard either, get a good end one but not too pricey. I advise ASUS P-series. Theyre good and not too pricey, but do look around. 500GB Hard drive should be good enough. For gaming you obviously want a good Graphics Card so Nvidia GT series is pretty good. RAM 8GB should be enough, given you are using 64bit OS.
Have fun building and using your PC! Do ask if you have any more questions :)

More than enough, I've spent approximately $700 on mine, including monitor...

And if your country doesn't have extremely high taxes then you can build a much more powerful PC with the same amount.

before deciding build a pc you need to pay attention for something like
what is your purpose, gaming, office, multimedia, overclocking etc
budget ofcourse
what kind of hardware that you wanna put there, like do you need SLI or crossfire, how many HDD, you wanna run raid?
any add on, like maybe better cooling solution

I Think it's not enough
It is enough to build a PC, not the fastest PC on the planet... And as the OP didn't specify the PC type, then yes it is enough.

It is not enough to build the highest end PC as you've suggested.

Yes Im from france and i recently move to Montreal. For my PC i dont want a super ultra high quality PC, just the best i can get with 900$, i will upgrade it often after that. But if you guys say that with 200$ more there is a huge difference...i will just wait.

start to buy things but try to be wise , here are some good second-hand products
but ebay has a lot of good things , refurbished or second-hands and paypal lets you have two weeks to be sure products work [ even if seller says product can not be returned ... some thiefs believe they can make bucks with brokens....]

so if i were you and if you are a gamer , after an ups and a 850-1000w psu platinium ,
i would buy an asrock killer http://www.asrock.com/microsite/Fatal1tyKiller/Fatal1ty 990FX Killer.html
http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty 990FX Killer/
http://www.thessdreview.com/our-rev...ew-fatal1ty-fx990-killer-am3-amd-motherboard/

that is at 146 euro at ldlc.com
plus a cpu amd with 3.3 or above Ghz , it turns around 150 euro

then 16 Go for 150 euro again [4x4Go] or [2x8Go]
http://www.crucial.fr/eu/store/listparts.aspx?model=Fatal1ty 990FX Killer&Cat=RAM

may be you will refer a cpu with the vga [ and do hybrid crossfirex with a specific graphic card choice is not big and will not be..] or not , here is the choice [in french]

http://www.tomshardware.fr/articles/comparatif-cpu-amd-intel,2-8.html

so with the last 150 you can buy monitor mouse keyb and speakers plus hard-drive or a vga

for your AMD build, is a 4+2 power phase enough for that 8350?

The list was compiled by the builders so I'm sure they know what they're doing.

canada + mexico + usa is a free market like europe . some states in the usa are applying some taxes when you buy things , most of the time it s california .
for amazon canada : www.amazon.ca
for ebay canada : www.ebay.ca

if you look at devises curency , canadian $ is at 1.5 euro :

http://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=asrock+killer&_sop=15

first 990 killer board as an import from usa is 221.21 $ , that is 147,47 euro same price as ldlc.com in france
to check lowest possible price in europe , i use shopping-google.de : https://www.google.de/#q=asrock+990fx+killer&tbm=shop
here i get 130,5 euro = 195.75 ca $

the ebay seller has a cool price and its ribbon is a cool warranty
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ASROCK-FATAL...57?pt=Motherboards&hash=item417c369145&_uhb=1

like i told you use paypal to pay on ebay : it is "gratis"
use an e-card when you have to pay with visa : http://particuliers.lcl.fr/quotidien/services-cartes-bancaires/ecarte-bleue/
ask your canadian bank if they do that or not and even open a new bank account to have the visa-e-card and set paypal on this account too .

then you ll this tool

no-one will hack your bank account ;']
