So with the prices on used AMD cards right now i was thinking of selling my two 7950s. Then buying a GTX 780. I only use one monitor and I could take a hit on benchmarks as its not a big deal. Plus my system gets hot so fans are loud with crossfire.

So should I? And if I do what 780 should i get?

Not a bad idea at all. Perhaps you should look at a used 780? There's probably quite a few lightly used ones out there from people going to 780ti's. MSI seems to be making some of the best cards right now, but any brand with the stock cooler would be nice.

I ended up getting the EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Superclocked with EVGA ACX Cooler. $480 after the $20 rebate. Not bad. Its got some good reviews and should be close to my 2X 7950 at stock. Good enough for a single monitor 1080p. And my system will be much quieter and cooler

I think that's a great call. The ACX is the way I would go too, I think. Enjoy it and hope you fetch some nice prices on those 7950s

first time I've seen this thread, but that is the exact card I was going to recommend. I have the GTX 780ti SC with the ACX cooler, and I'm very satisfied with it.

Definitely sell before prices come down; nothing worse than missing out on an opportunity. I sold my 7970 for $220 before the boom, like just days before the boom, and it's a lousy feeling

I love this new card. EVGA 780 SC. I listed one of the 7950s in the for sale section $280 shipped.

I'm, getting slightly less performance but a lot less heat and fan noise. Crossfire is nice and worked great for me but time to move on.
My Firestrike score went from 9450 =7950 X2 to 9150 = 1 X GTX780

That is pretty low for 2x HD 7950; My score Firestrike Performance 11043 with no OC. Glad you are happy with the new card though. :p

They are the reference coolers that suck. That score is at stock clocks. I did OC them a got a 10500 but its loud with all my fans turned up. They hit about 74c with 1000Ghz

Nice choice. I always liked how EVGA cards look, and if you can have a similar performance with one card as you had with 2 in crossfire better choose one card (less power needed+less heat produced=Win win).

I sold one of my 7950s on E bay for $330. The MSI one. Crazy, that's $267 after all the fees and shipping. God I hate E bay. I still have the HIS 7950.
