Need help finding a cheap GPU for my HTPC for 4K playback. I'm currently using a 8400 GS but it lags, freezes and artifacts really bad at anything above 1080P. Looking for a card thats not too exspensive but can handle 4K video playback and 3D playback.

Those cards were not made for 4K playback. I don't know if there are any that officially supports this, but your chances are to get a more modern card, but nothing guaranteed.

My 9500GT plays 1080p (60fps) videos at 50-60% load (+70-80% spikes)... So a more modern model should handle frames bigger than that (maybe a GT630, 620 or above).

Don't know about performance of AMD cards, never used them in my life.

250w will be fine for ether of those cards as they don't need any external power. Nvidia may say 300w for the GT640 GDDR5 but the cards only uses 49 W.

The cheapest options would be either a GT 630 or 640. Probably better go with the 640

Or just get a GTX 750 which is more but better or a hd 7770 or gtx 650

Thx guess i'll get a GT 640 since there's no cheaper option

Try> Change mobo: try MSI FM2-A75MA-P33 + A10 5800K processor

why would i do that. It will cost over $200 which isn't worth it considering i already have this build.

The cheapest options would be either a GT 630 or 640. Probably better go with the 640

Or just get a GTX 750 which is more but better or a hd 7770 or gtx 650
I though about a GTX 750 Ti but power consumption would require a new PSU

A AMD 5450 would be cheaper and it will do.
I don't think it does

I don't see any 4K support?
Thx for the clarification

Its the same price as a GeForce GT 630 so how is it cheaper?

If you do go for a 630 make sure its the new model.

Maybe in your country it does cost the same, anyway a R7 240 consumes less power and gives better performance.

Here are the proofs before you start arguing.
