I don't know about you, but this new AMD beta driver IN STAR SWARM Benchmark is seriously kicking out some great Mantle numbers..

Sorry I clicked GC and didnt click AMD sorry guys.

Technically it isn't an AMD only bench so GC is an acceptable place for this thread.

Mantle is AMD!

he didn't meant the opposite... altho Nvidia could support Mantle : AMD meant it like that (unlike Cuda/PhysX)

he meant he has nV cards(no AMD) so no mantle

and FX-GMC is right : "no AMD is no Mantle" read it like "i have no AMD /gpu/ is no Mantle possibility"

again unless nV support it ... which would be unlikely for them to help popularize a new API made by their concurent

the level is different iirc DX and OpenGL are alike they work on the same level afaik mantle is closer to the core function, but true they are all API, also DX might be a AMD API but nV adopted it because of M$ now if nV will adopt Mantle, which they will not because of some obvious reasons (who said "money" ? ), Mantle could overtake DX as the new standard API because of the evident performances increases and efficiency, ofc DX could still exist but only for other things unrelated to what Mantle is in charge. (i am not correcting you tho )

its advertised as a multi-vendor api... but atm there are no NVidia drivers which support it. the code is not meant to be proprietary but atm it might as well be...

so atm mantle is just for amd cards.... I thought it was ok, but its the early stages... its meant to reduce cpu calls is all...

I don't know about DX11 ties to AMD, but Mantle comes from a french Canadian that sat in mums basement writing code to make mantle what it is atm, but I'm sure I'll be corrected too.

Does Mantle have crossfire compatibility for the R9's?

I don't recall trying xfire with it, or I only tried xfire... it was ages ago on release when I tried it....

I could see texture 'pop in' and was forced to go back to DX11 because of the 4 second pause which I couldn't live with...

I don't know about DX11 ties to AMD, but Mantle comes from a french Canadian that sat in mums basement writing code to make mantle what it is atm, but I'm sure I'll be corrected too.

Does Mantle have crossfire compatibility for the R9's?

I found no difference in BF4 with Mantle for either GPU or CPU, which is disappointing. I'll try swarm and report back.

yeah, the latest 14.2. I also tried when I had my 7950's. Checked the opernhardwaremonitor graphs and saw no difference in CPU or GPU usage, using the same position and view in BF4.

What about FPS? I apologize if that was to be assumed, but you never can tell.

perfoverlay.drawfps 1

Type that in the bf4 console. Also, turn off vsync for the test if you have it enabled. Not gonna do any good if you are pegged at 60fps.
