What's up with Steam lately?

Almost every day for the past week I'm having issues connecting to Steam. Doesn't matter if I'm at home or at work, PC or laptop I'm getting "Could not connect to the Steam network".

Anyone else having issues?

I haven't had much of a problem with Steam, but I don't play a lot of games that require multi-player.

Anyone else getting random crap. The "25%" and such discount coupons are really getting annoying. They're generally for games in beta, which on Steam almost always means either an alpha or pre-alpha quality build that barely functions.

Ahh Minecraft and Terraria. You both paved the way for completely losing the point of what a beta is. If only other betas were half as functional as what yours were.

um nobody said early access is beta, a dev is free to make any version early access whether it will take years or a month to release

connecting to steam isnt to do with multiplayer & most game servers (if it's not a p2p game) are unrelated to steam

those coupons come from game devs (or valve?) again, it is decided to send a specific coupon to everyone that owns specific game X in a similar manner that sale prices+periods are decided

A day or two ago, me and my mate (UK) both could not connect to steam network. I thought it was just me until i spoke to my mate.

I've had the occasional "Steam Cannot Connect" pop up on my screen, but it immediately reconnected. I chalked it up to my computer coming out of sleep mode.

I had a lot of problems about 12 hours ago with not being able to pull up the Payday 2 page. It's working fine now but dayum Steam is starting to frustrate me.

There was a 1.7GB update for me about 12 hours ago. Also their Free to Play film was released last night, perhaps the servers were overloaded with downloads for that? I know I downloaded it and watched it as soon as it became available.

Yeap I got many issues since the beginning of March. I even died in Path of Exile hardcore ladder league twice because Steam booted me but I stayed online in the game :S Had to delete game and install the standalone version; also can't bother to play Rust since I get connection drops because steam is QQing. Sometimes the downtime is as long as half an hour, other times I just get dc for a minute and some other times I can't log in when I open steam and I have to try many times.

It's actually been for the last month for me. First time signing into Steam for the day, it's a 50% coin toss whether it will say "could not connect to Steam network". Then opening up steam again, it connects. Only website that has had the issue. Even notoriously flaky Origin has not given me any trouble as far as gaming sites.

I frequently get the message that I'm "logged in elsewhere" and so have to input my pw again.
Had created a thread about this once, did all the advice suggested from changing pw to changing email and pw etc...
Still happens.

I'm South Central (Louisiana), although east of the Mississippi River. My issue above has been daily, with two separate PC's on two separate accounts.

EDIT: I want to say I connect to the Atlanta server. I suppose I could try Dallas tonight and see if it makes a difference.

I chose Atlanta for my download server. Dunno if that affects the login server or not. I'm also in Tennessee and I have not had any issues. The only time I really ever do is during Steam Sales.
