My issue is not stuttering, FPs or general performance drops. My game runs perfectly apart from netcode issues after this update.

Well, After playing NS for about 2hrs I can come to the conclusion that i dont care for it. Theres too much camping going on

Played NS and I think it is nice only in few cases.

Indeed:
- 64 players is practically a must, otherwise how can you defend your carrier+attack enemy carrier+defend/take missiles?
- Even with 64 players you have to coordinate. For instance, if enemies breached into the ship, you need part of the team defending and part keeping missiles to breach their carrier.
- However coordinating 32 players is usually impossible. My best experience has been when my team was composed of several same-platoon people, so coordination was feasible.
- Without coordination, the result is that the first team that breaches usually wins

Ive read a lot of back and forth about what it should be set to - Ive had it set to 0 more or less since it was released and never had any problems apart from the occasional lag and of course bad code. apart from smoother animations theres not much difference

Its the High Performance Event Timer, I don't even think Windows uses it by default, but it is some form of hardware timer and a lot of people on various forums seem to think disabling it in the bios improves latency. I don't think there are any downsides to disabling it.

I disabled HPET in my BIOS and within the OS today to see if I get less CPU spikes. Seemed to help but I still get CPU spikes.

You have to disable it within the BIOS if the option is there and also disable it within the OS.

To use HPET with it enabled in the BIOS use.

bcdedit /set useplatformclock true (then reboot) enable HPET

bcdedit /deletevalue useplatformclock (then reboot) disable HPET

It helped reduce CPU spikes greatly for my aging system.

In addition, I recommend creating a user.cfg file and adding RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit from 1 to 2 or 3.
The game directory is in Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4
In that folder create a new text file and rename it to "user.cfg". Then you can add the RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit console command there that will be loaded on startup.

What setting should I use for my system? Confused on this, I have seen people say 1 is best, or 2, or 3?
For 2, I would do:

I have mine set as: RenderDevice.RenderAheadLimit 2
If I remember correctly, I tried it with a 3 but didn't notice an improvement compared to the initial change from 1 to 2.
The RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit line is from BF3 I believe. So I would disregard that line.

Give it a go and see if it give you some extra fps and smoother experience. Let us know.

Strange, but I very rarely observe such laggeries. I always sort servers by lag, well, ping, and join the best with enough players or the map I like most. I am talking about sub 50 ping servers. Never join higher ping servers. Ah, European servers only.

It's not lag.

It's that you desync from the server. So when you make a shot and see it go through the enemy yet get no hit marker. In reality the player has moved since then and the game world you're playing in is actually behind the actual game world. It's what happened when you play several rounds on the same server without leaving or you play very long ones.

I messed with render ahead 2 and then 1, both times it ran poorly. It seemed smoother but events in the game seemed to lag what was actually occurring.

I have always raised close to the highest dpi setting on my mouse and reduced the in-game sensitivity to low. Then play around with the in-game sensitivity to find a good feel/feedback.
