Now i require a gpu and im unsure what to get.
I want SLI
I want more than 2gb (even 3gb im a bit paranoid about aswel)

I only have a basic lg full hd lcd as a monitor. I was considering the GV-770OC-4GD x2

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the thrust of this.

You've sunk a substantial amount of money into a hexa-core processor. You've already got a, presumably custom, water cooling loop. You're proposing that you need more than 2 GB of VRAM, and that you're starting off in SLI on a single 1920x1080 monitor. Are you planning on heavy GPU processing, encoding, or the like? If this is a computer that'll be gaming you've gone way overkill.

Assume you're gaming, or at least not using heavy GPU compute, go with the 770 hydro coppers. Assuming you're running heavy compute, or are planning on purchasing 4k or multiple monitors shortly go with the Titans. The regular air cooled 770s seem like the odd duck out, because the price of everything else implies you have the funds to go all out, either being insanely quiet or insanely powerful.

If I were in your shoes I'd choose none of these. A 780ti with built in water cooling was just released. Two extra fittings and some tubing would allow you to basically run anything on a single screen (definitely at 1920x1080, and likely at 4k). The SLI option seems like a waste of money.

Overkill is one way to put it. I'm the type of person that likes to do that sort of thing without being loud and proud (or trying not to be). I would like to go down the track of multiple displays but wanting to just get it up and running at the moment.

The only reason i want two gpus is because of its looks and something new for me to try. NOTHING ELSE :) hence why i'm open to ideas. (my previous pc was maxed out playing diablo 2 and was still lagging so... bit of a change :))

The reason i picked the 770 was because of its higher clock speeds but im still very open to ideas

PS the 770 clock speeds for the hydro cooper are higher than the 780 variant and $200 less (im not sure where to get the 780ti (most pc hardware shops here in New Zealand dont have high end gpus ))

Edit: Not sure where to get the water cooled 780ti

And at the moment iv spent $2560 so i think im doing ok for what iv got ;)

Sorry, no frame of reference for what shops offer locally.

The 770 has higher clock speeds, but less of pretty much everything else. As clock speeds aren't the be all end all of graphics, you've got to make a decision. Do you want to deal with the SLI updating, or do you want to makes things easy? Not all games have an SLI profile at launch. This means you'll functionally be running on one card until a profile is pushed out. If you go for a single GPU it might cost more, but there's less to worry about.

Basing the response off of that assumption, purchase a Titan or a 780ti (assuming you can find one, which may be foolish on my part). Here's the link to the newegg part: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130923 I know it isn't directly useable to you, but it will at least let you get a sense of what is out there.

And as a last note

http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/new-build-too-many-choices.196905/#post-3050046

that link is one from end of last year where im still mystified as to how a 780ti is better than two 770s :)

Raw performance, two 770s are better. Subtract scaling (a few percent), and you've got a realistic assessment. Divide by two if the SLI profile isn't there, and subtract a few extra percent for general inefficiencies. A two 770 SLI is less powerful than two 770s.

As I stated above, a single GPU is less of a headache to maintain. If you're willing to maintain it, there's a relatively affordable performance boost to be realized.

So its the same as this one? (amazon ships to new zealand with free shipping) but it can be a big pain with warranties so would proffer not to.

Thanks for your help by the way you probably get asked this all the time -_-

Edit: as per maintenance, what do you mean? ie correct drivers for games to support sli gaming?

Yes, that would be the same card.

My bad on the terminology. I meant maintenance in that you have to keep SLI profiles up to date. On a regular 1 GPU setup you only have to maintain drivers (usually less than once per month). On an SLI setup you basically have to update the profiles any time a new game is released.

Instead of using those GTX 770, may i suggest a Radeon R9 290x Custom Cooloer(Power Color PCS+, MSI Lightning or Gaming, Asus DCUII or Matrix Platinum, and many more)

I think Radeon R9 290x is more powerful than GTX 770 SLI at either Eyefinity(3 monitor 5760 x 1080) or 4K Resolution

Why is nobody recommending dual 780ti's or dual 290X's to this guy? He clearly has cash to splash. There is no alternative. If he can't afford at least a single 780ti or 290X, he should just halve his RAM (it isn't even going to make a difference to performance), or jump down to a 4820K/4770K. If he's playing games, 32GB of RAM is obsolete, and the hexacore is raw overkill. Sacrifices can be made for awesome GPU's. Especially when the sacrifices will make no difference to game performance anyway.

Hasslehoffer is pretty much right in all he's said. Your build is ridiculous overkill for gaming, 780ti/290X or more is the best option for your multimonitor purposes.

If I were you, I'd start off with either a custom r9 290x or a custom 780ti. That way you can always get a second one for crossfire/SLI goodness down the track or just get the second one right now as well - up to you. But yeh, I wouldn't go anything lower than r9 290/gtx 780 seeing what other components are in your build.

Haha I was waiting for this comment.
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-R9-280X-vs-EVGA-GeForce-GTX-770-Dual-Classified-Hydro-Copper
The above link is why I want the 770s. The reason for the 64gb ram is for ramdisk. Makes it heaps quicker than an ssd. Money wise not too much of an issue as this is my last project before I start renovating my first home. :) Im weighing up whether I buy 2 770 hydro copper $1360, 2 780 tis for $1614 or one titan black for 1299 and another down the track. I really want sli as that will be using the board 2x 16x pci slots :).
Thanks guys

So 8GB system memory and 56GB RAMDisk? What is on this RAMDisk? Obviously not Windows. Just like, 3 games or something?

2 x 780ti's are superior. Titan Black is not worth it, it's just a 780ti with more VRAM (which you won't use) and DPCompute, which doesn't do anything in games.

Yup half adozen games and bits and bobs. :) Like I said its my last project for some time and thought id do it right. No pointmhaving a board and using part of the ram slots

That's fair enough. I used to run 24GB of RAM with 8GB system memory and 16GB RAMDisk. Then I sold the spare 8GB to a guy who develops for City Interactive (my claim to fame).

If you want to do it right, the performance gain between two 770's and 2 780ti's is most definitely worth the $200+. The Titan Black however most certainly is not for gaming. It's for cheap compute servers.

My favorite option is R9 290X + R9 290 because the secondary cards generally don't work as hard so they can be weaker.
From Nvidia I'd for 2 GTX 780 Clasifieds/Lightnings

But can it still sli with a different card? Also im unsure about how good lightning is. Since im ordering out of amazon.com (importing) I would want the card to of high quality in case of a warrenty job. International warrentys get messy

But can it still sli with a different card? Also im unsure about how good lightning is. Since im ordering out of amazon.com (importing) I would want the card to of high quality in case of a warrenty job. International warrentys get messy
You can't SLI different cards unless you get modded drivers.
The Lightning/Classified have much better PCBs than the reference GTX 780.

290X will crossfire with 290, AMD have funky crossfire support, though at your price range it seems silly to get a lower 2nd GPU.

4 way sli
Terrible terrible idea. 4 way SLI is just not well supported at all. You'd lose a lot of performance.

And how easy is it to find water cooling blocks? Or is that something I should do straight away when parts are readily available?
