Their support are soooo slooooow. Waiting for reply since the last Monday

It's when they sending you new card/mobo, before you sent them the faulty one.

ps

Did a quick run of Valley 1.0. Core clock drops are perfectly matches with frametime spikes on AB graphs.
Voiding the warranty to replace thermal pads is not a problem, i was going to watercool it anyway. But if it is not a strictly driver/bios problem i'd like to keep warranty sticker on, just to be sure.
Pretty disappointed with my card, though never had any problems with MSI products before

From what I asked of MSI is for a cross trade like I've done with Asus.

Give them a Credit card number and they ship out a new/refurbished or whatever ,and be sure they have the broken product before 30 days is up or they charge ya for it..;)

MSI don't do that with GPU's as I was told over the phone. o_O

Well I just got a call from my local retailer and wouldn't you know it there going to replace my one card that the fan blade was broken on. I guess they called there supplier nci% and they will honor the exchange but here's the kicker.. I give them the card and I'm going to have to wait 8-15 days for the replacement card..

Oh well better then nothing and I hope I hit the silicon lottery with this next one and have no broken blades.

Hi, MSI R9 290/290X owners. Can anyone check if you can see the thermal pad on vrm1, please.
Because i can't, only the gap between hetasink and vrm.
Thanks

Did some tests at the setting that are really working well for me and what I play at daily - 1200/1600 w/ 4670K ES @ 4.3 w/ 2400 RAM

I am getting in a cascade cooler so I am planning to get some good runs done and go for broke with it in the system... literally :D

The cascade is going to be a bit longer, my friend is going to re-tune/re-gas it and mod it for use with LN2 - Cascade used to bring down temps then LN2 used to go past that :)

Running into a roadblock on my 290. If I set the memory anything over 1300 I get crashes within 30 seconds playing Bioshock Infinite. 1000/1300 runs just fine, but not any higher. Doesn't seem to matter what power limit I give it.

Memory scales off of core voltage give it +50mv in Trixx and you should be able to push another 50 to a 100mhz.

Alright. I've got it at +19, but I wasn't pushing it higher because I'm trying to keep the temps from being too excessive. I have to keep the panel off the side of my case to keep it from throttling at all. Ordered some new case fans that will, hopefully, alleviate the anemic airflow.

Back to my problem with high vrm temperature.
The thermal pad i ordered on ebay for arrived last night. (10x10 cm, 1 mm thick, 3 $, free shipping)
Now my card running a bit colder 99 C in Valley with pads vs 118 C without. 89 C in BF4 with pads vs 110 C without. (R9 290X Gaming @1030 factory OC)
Looks like it's a bit thinner than stock pads or an airflow in my chassis could have been better.

Ill run valley shortly and show you the vrm temps on mine.
Still that seems dam high even with a pad :wtf:

Here look this is one card NOT cross fire and rated gpu speed.

Valley maxed out settings with case closed up. It's been crunching all day so it's all warmed up.

Overclocked temp

No just had that broken fan blade so the local retailer found out I can warranty through them, or there supplier, so I gave it back and should have the new one later next week.

Prob going to dump these cards and grab some reference 290x's of fleBay sense there so cheap :p

These msi cards dont clock memory worth a shit.. sure they cool nice but fuck it.

lesson learned, IF YOU WANT TO OC DON'T BUY NON REFERENCE!

All the hype on better cooling, bah for the regular gamer these work fine but never again I buy non reference. I know better but I got suckered into the NON REFERENCE IS BETTER lol... what a joke!

The normal clock is 977/1250 so if you raise the core up to anywhere like 1007,1017/1027 in multiples of 10mhz and the memory in increments or 50MHz then it seems to work well.

Weird but that's what I've been finding. any number not in the multiple of 10mhz from 997 and up just crashes the higher you go but memory seems to like the 25/50 mhz bump.

Idiots that design these aftermarket cards need a kick to the nut bag imo, like the sane goes.... keep it simple stupid
